Artist Amy Sherald's American Sublime exhibit at the Whitney Museum.
Painting on back wall "If You Surrendered to the Air, You Could Ride It" The title comes from Toni Morrison's novel "Song of Solomon" that suggests letting go of fear in order to fly; the inherent danger of falling is left unspoken.
A local dock in Astoria, Oregon. Stunning green algae covered these pilings on high tide. I used a long exposure techinique to control the water movement.

Admiring the phenomenal view while ascending the North ridge of Sgurr a Ghreadaidh. Part of a long day on Skye Cuillin ridge which following Ghreadaidh lead over Sgurr na Banaichdaich, descent down to Loch Coruisk, up the Dubh's ridge, before returning to Glen Brittle.
With the lights of Shoreham-by-Sea's Adur Ferry Bridge reflecting on the surface of the river, this evening's Sunset was something of an unexpected sublime experience.

THE IMAGE:
Long exposure (single image) twilight shot in the remote Southwest as high clouds were moving along fast. Moonlight lit up the foreground.

The forecast when we headed to the park was for mostly sunny skies, which we got. However, closer to the end of the trip I was pleasently rewarded with this amazing sunrise. I literally had to stand there and stare at it's beauty for close to a minute before I could get the camera out. It was one of my favorite sunrises to soak in and I feel thankful I was there to enjoy the moment. After shooting for about 25 min I was scared off by some grunting not too far off in the dense forest. Not sure if it was a bear or moose but I was in bear country and not to keen to hang out there by myself much longer! Fortunately I already knew I had the shot I truly wanted. Location is Bowman Lake, GNP. Thanks in advance for all comments.
Sydney Harbour (again). I was just looking through some images from last year that are filed away, and I was kind of amazed by the subtle difference in each image as the light changed. I couldn't really resist throwing this one into the mix...
“At the center of our being is a point of nothingness which is untouched by sin and by illusion, a point of pure truth, a point or spark which belongs entirely to God, which is never at our disposal, from which God disposes of our lives, which is inaccessible to the fantasies of our own mind or the brutalities of our own will. This little point of nothingness and of absolute poverty is the pure glory of God in us. It is so to speak His name written in us, as our poverty, as our indigence, as our dependence, as our sonship. It is like a pure diamond, blazing with the invisible light of heaven. It is in everybody, and if we could see it we would see these billions of points of light coming together in the face and blaze of a sun that would make all the darkness and cruelty of life vanish completely ... I have no program for this seeing. It is only given. But the gate of heaven is every- where.”
― Thomas Merton, Conjectures of a Guilty Bystander
