I started with this super groovy paper I found at the paper store the other day and it just sort of evolved into something that looks like cool book cover. So if anyone writes this book I'll let you have this for the cover art!
The first month of 2025 has been an essay in how cold we can get! Although we are on the same latitude as Moscow, we do have the warming influence of an ocean around Scotland's shores. So we probably shouldn't complain, but of course we do 😊
-16c was the lowest we managed - and snow a foot deep. So we were quite home-centred, and shooting, even in the garden, was quite an adventure. After keeping ourselves warm, we spent a lot of time trying to ensure our garden birds survived too. Icy weather for a few days is not too bad - but when it extends to 2 or 3 weeks, they were suffering. Both water and food froze solid so quickly!
So there are a lot of white images in the monthly collage! I used one snow bokeh image as the background for the collage. Happily the group challenges gave me inspiration for indoor and tabletop still life shots, as we felt the memories of 'lockdown' returning 😊
February is beginning with the same sub-zero world, though much of the snow has gone. But we are looking forward to a very early and very warm Spring! Well - we can dream!

I was still getting over a terrible virus, and riding my bike in sub-zero temps into the wind and I thought I wasn't going to make it, but this little angel was watching over me.
This morning I was at a very special location with a more than usual perspective over Zurich. I catched some trains from up there :).

When the Missabe went quiet, but there was still plenty of daylight, the Rainy Sub came to the rescue. This is a few miles south of Simar.
Today is the 4th July, the USA Independence Day. This year they celebrate 250 Years of independence from British Rule.
So happy celebrations everyone!
For me in Australia and for perhaps many in the world this anniversary has represented how the USA has lost its way over the last decade. From unnecessary wars, fake news and alternative facts, murky waters in terms of tarriffs and the effect on inflation, the USA has certainly demonstrated how they can affect others.
A bright spot in this era of uncertainty and stupidity is shown by how well we in Australia have managed to avoid disastrous Oil shortages caused by the US Israel war against Iran. So the backfire effect has lead to an undertanding of how Renewable Energy, Electric Cars and diversified economies can lead to better security as well as hopefully. decarbonisation. China must be happy!
