hawthorne valley farm bianca cheese - this is a nice soft white cow cheese. i left it on the counter while i was mixing up the other stuff to allow it to soften. if you use it straight from the fridge, it makes lovely crumbles for topping salads or what have you.

squash blossoms (i can't remember which stand i got these from)- i'm not sure how long the season is on these, but i thought that i would give them a go (suzette was raving about them the other day). they have a pleasant light zucchini flavour, and an airy texture, even if you do stuff them with cheese.

baby portabella mushrooms from john d madura farms - my high school orchestra conductor was also named john madura. he would like to tell us about the time his distant relative almost bought long island for 50 cents. i think of him every time i buy mushrooms, because the john d madura farm stand is the only one which sells them.

for the stuffing: bianca cheese, sauteed mix of baby bellas, garlic scapes, shallot

for the batter: all purpose flour and sparkling rose

dip stuffed blossoms in batter fry it up in some veggie oil on med high heat - about 10 seconds per side.

A Stuffers Box serves up some bland but functional hardware: a small glass block, a teacup, and a frame.
