Decided to do at least one that didn't have such a heavy ratio. : )
In addition to documenting the holiday stubble, these shots are practice for lighting around eyeglasses. This setup seems to work fairly well

One thing I've come to appreciate about facial hair is the variety of styles one can sport before shaving it off. Zack frequently lets his stubble grow awhile, with maintenance trims in between full-blown shaves. (Typical rationale for total snippage might be unbearable itchiness or upcoming event with the in-laws.) Prior to shearing off the whole shabang, a well-planned trim guarantees a few laughs. There's the predictable half-bushy, half-bare look, which everyone must try at least once. Another one, the horseshoe mustache, entails shaving the chin completely to create a mustache like Hulk Hogan's. If whiskers aren't your thing, consider star-burns!
My favorite facial hair fashion for Zack is the Lt. Jim Dangle, a.k.a. Rockin' the Dangle (a term I've just now coined). They could be twins.
This morning Zack's sideburns screamed That 70s Guy. He posed for a few shots in his white tank top undershirt, but I snapped my favorite of the day as he leaned over the sink in mid-trim. I stood just to his left and framed his reflection in the mirror. Awesome.
After the wet weather the tractors and combine have left muddy tracks and large puddles have formed at the bottom of the field.

Eighty per cent of farmers would prefer to retain crop residues for a sustainable farming system but, according to a recent survey by I&I NSW, many current tillage and seeding implements do not handle cropping residues very well at critical times of the year when there is no time to waste. Sleep, when are you going to get it?
I keep using this beauty dish but mine must be broken, no matter what I do it doesn't make me look any better...
Trying some more things with the beauty dish, nothing crazy. Non-socked, and added a second light for a little more definition.

Paisley and I are both big fans of Jack Kirby's Fourth World comics. I read her one a night, just before bed, as a treat if she's been good and hasn't spilled any glasses of water or knocked stuff on the floor.
In this picture she is all, "They built a miniature planet populated by microscopic Draculas and werewolves? WTF?"

I've had a really busy week so have neglected my 365 project a bit. So here's a quickie I did after I got back from work.
I even managed a smile (or is that a grin?) just for you lot, so you can all feel special :o)
Setup: Me, neutral coloured wall, Canon EOS 600D with Canon Speedlight 430EX II flash gun mounted in hotshot with mini-softbox to diffuse. Knock yourself out.

Not much has changed in the last few months, except I am way behind in my quest for 52 self portraits for the year. But I will complete it one way or another!

Just messing around. (Which is why I didn't bother to remove my headphones in one of the shots.)
f/8 or f/11, I believe.
Manual-focus self-portrait with the focus-on-tripod-head method.

A re-edit of Mehdi's old portrait. Contrast and exposure is much better, though the ISO1600 clearly shows.

Spike came over in the evening and we went to the Castro to meet Duke. The three of us went out to Harvey's for dinner. I thought Spike was looking especially sexy today, so I took this profile pic of him.

Yes, I started on the last day of the year.

On camera flash. Used more as a fill than anything, but it worked nicely.
I'm not a fan of big headphones; these are just a pair I wear at home when I use my tablet and my wife is watching TV! With the lamp behind me, I shot in to the light to give it this ambient glow.
Not much sleep last night so I'm looking tired, and the beard is starting to get quite heavy; I think another day or so and I'll have to unveil a moustache...
