This is farmland on the west side of the village of Isham, where we live in North Northamptonshire. The harvest has been gathered in, and the former wheatfields are now full of stubble.

The first shot from my outing last Thursday evening. It was my intention to shoot the sunset from a spot I was at back in the spring,.

Back in the Spring cereal fields were green the landscape was green and lush as well. Crops have now been cut leaving just stubble and with so little rain the difference is startling.

My walk from the car to my chosen spot takes around about half an hour. This was my first shot of the evening as the sun getting lower and the beginnings of some long shadows, I took a few more shots along my walk to my spot. But when I got to my chosen spot there was a crowd of people there having a party, so I had to move around a bit more but it all came good in the end.

Today is the first shot, Tomorrow i`ll post the last shot from my walk back to the car as it got dark, There will be many more over the coming days.

When we were travelling back to Wales from the Dolomites, we stayed for a couple of nights in the Champagne region of France. The vast cereal fields were all bing harvested so there were lovely lines of stubble. We borrowed a brown leather hat from the Airbnb, and went out to take some fun portraits in the late evening sun. When we arrived at a war grave site , Maura said where's the hat? We quickly realised we must have left it on the car roof when we left the last location a few miles away. Rushing back , we saw a car ahead stop, a man get out, pick up the hat and speed off ! I had to follow him with flashing lights and horn , while Maura had arms out of the window gesticulating. this just seemed to make him drive quicker, so a frantic car chase ensued through the Champagne backroads. It was like one of those cop car chases on tv. Eventually he realised we weren't going to stop chasing him , so slowed down, rolled down the window, and said '" is this yours?" . A bizarre but true story . All this way for the short ride is by Tom Russell. I sold another two driftwood photos this morning so I'm off to look for Marsh Fritillaries to celebrate.

After the excitement of the photo session with the Plain-wanderers, Philip still wanted to treat us to a few more special sightings.

Bob (nw_birder), our friendly companion for the day, sometimes translator and sometimes even a guide, was kindly concerned about our tight schedule. We needed to get back to Deniliquin, sleep a few hours, and head to Melbourne with some extra time to handle any unexpected issues.

But since we were so excited, we happily thanked Bob, appreciated his concerns, and said yes, continuing into the night.

This was one of the extra gifts we got!

Empty sand hoppers from Owens-Illinois glass at Lapel make up this day's train for CSX interchange. Barren fields make up much of the scenery on this railroad especially during the winter months. Central Indiana & Western operates the sole remaining nine miles of what once was the Central Indiana railroad. Most of the western half of the 117-mile railroad was removed in 1935, and the middle was removed in 1985, leaving Lapel to Anderson active.

A couple of points to note, I’ve digitally removed Gavin B from up the tree close to the locomotive and this is a focus stack of a few images to try get the stubble in focus.
