We spotted this guy strutting his stuff surrounded by about 20 ladies as we were heading home from a short get away.

Male sage grouse displaying for the ladies on a bitterly cold and windy morning. Perhaps amorous thoughts helped keep the grouse warm.
The birds have suffered a huge population decline in recent years due to habitat loss and drought.

After getting grumpy about the lack of wildlife at the pond, this handsome dude showed up. I haven't seen a Wood Duck for over a year. This drake had his lady friend in tow, and I've NEVER seen that. So this was quite a thrill. Then I went home and ordered my new camera. Happy day!

A red-wattled lapwing (vanellus indicus) struts across open grassland in Kaudulla National Park, Sri Lanka. Although these birds, being waders, are seldom found far from water, the specimens I saw were invariably foraging for insects on the ground. A green sandpiper (tringa ochropus) strutting across the shallows in a small lake near Tangalle, in Sri Lanka. The evening light produced an almost metallic effect on the water. More at "Colin Pacitti Wildlife Photography" - www.colin-pacitti.com.
Ok... It's just another common ol' Red Billed Gull - though why it's bill and legs aren't as bright red as a lot of its colleagues are, I don't know - unless this is a very young bird!
Anyway, he was strutting his stuff on Petone Beach recently, begging to have his photo taken... And because he and his kind are always so pristine (and photogenic!), well: I had to oblige!
keep smiling, stay well, and thanks for visiting my Site and for taking the time and trouble to leave a Comment. It's always nice to hear from you...!

As they approached a chicken coop, these two dogs heard little cries and the beating of wings. Curious as they were, they decided to venture closer to find out what was going on. As they slipped through the bushes, they spotted a red hen strutting proudly behind a fence !

Big old boy still strutting his stuff in some nice light and lovely autumnal colours. Taken Richmond park recently.
Obviously not shooting them for their beauty!! ...although, I do love their green legs and feet -
The American coot, also known as a mud hen or pouldeau, is a bird of the family Rallidae. Though commonly mistaken for ducks, American coots are only distantly related to ducks, belonging to a separate order. Unlike the webbed feet of ducks, coots have broad, lobed scales on their lower legs and toes that fold back with each step in order to facilitate walking on dry land. Coots live near water, typically inhabiting wetlands and open water bodies in North America. Groups of coots are called covers or rafts.
It's strange you pay to visit a wildlife park and watch and photograph the exotic animals that are being cared for, yet half of my photos related to local birds that had dropped in looking for a feed. This lovely looking Jackdaw being a good example.
