Il tempo, come questo ruscello, sotto un fogliame sempre mutevole, scorre silenzioso. E ci si immagina che Ofelia possa sbucare da un momento all'altro su queste onde...
When I was a child I loved beautiful plants and gardens. It became ingrained, and expresses itself daily in my love of gardening. Sadly, not every child is brought up to appreciate the good and the beautiful in life...
Some juvenile vandals in my neighborhood have caused these once Nopales Cacti to be opened to disease that destroys their color and their smooth texture. This happened once before, a few years ago. I kept trimming the damaged petals or lobes until that crop of young vandals moved away from their parents. Then the plants healed and were gorgeous again.
Now, their younger siblings have come of vandalism age. Today I hope to begin trimming the disfigured lobes. It will take a few days. Then I will take these photos on my iPhone to a local garden center. Hopefully they will know a cure for the fungus or rot that is so ugly.

I very recently started a new job after being laid off from my previous employer, so I haven't had much time to be out with my camera. This stream is on the property of my new employer, and was just too tempting not to grab a few shots.
The sun was streaming in through the window, so I was obliged to make use of it with some self portraits.
(Swedish: Svartån) The stream flows through the city of Västerås. The weir was built in 1891 together with the Turbine House, a small hydroelectric power plant. This early electrification encouraged ASEA, a large electricity equipment manufacturer, to concentrate its operations in Västerås. After the 1988 merger with the power systems company Brown, Boveri & Cie, ASEA became ABB Group (ABB in Västerås produces e.g. robots and drive systems for the industry, high-voltage direct current transmission and power grids).
