I was at Benefis west to do a tank and saw this spectacular wall of clouds in the late sun so I stopped to take some pictures before I went inside.

This tree, which was significantly smaller when I went to school here, has seen its last storm. The most recent November Gale put enough strain on the tree that it splintered. The storm put enough rain in my old neighbourhood that many basements flooded after the power went out. The puddle shown here was several inches deeper than the ditch that lies to the right of frame.

Technical note: This is a composite shot. To bring the tree much more into the foreground and move the houses back and out of competitive view, I used a spot B&W filter on the tree in one photo, and the same filter on the tree's reflection in another. I then combined the two photos, resulting in the image you see above.

Sunday brunch at Quiet Storm - a great cafe with loads of vegan options - it was a delicious way to start the morning! I had the vegan breakfast burrito and the orange spice tea and Kris had the egg frittata and some orange juice. Great food and cool atmosphere! On the menu, they list the sources and local producers of everything (even the tables and chairs) in the whole cafe. Very cool.
