Couple of boats washed up on Goleta Beach during a storm. One man injured when pulled from a coastal restaurant under the Goleta Pier. Cops and Fire Fighters showed up, emergency light flashing.
At Shoreline Lake, these are storm cloud's rolling in for the storm later on that night. I love cloud's, and as soon as I knew that there was going to be one, I headed to the lake with my camera.
Apparently these storms are stuck in a holding pattern over this area because Arizona doesnt want them. : )
A few months after buying this car I decided to name it Storm Shadow after the white ninja from GI Joe. Now I had the opportunity to take some photos of it with a storm off in the distance. I didn't get too much for bolts of lightning but I still like this shot. It was late, I was tried, I had to work the next morning, and the storm was already going away. I used my max exposure length of 15 seconds. The light on the car is a combination of light from my garage and lamp that sits out in the yard.
(4-2-'07) I drove out to my parents house for lunch yesterday and the sky was just amazing. There were clouds ranging from nearly white to very dark gray. When I looked to the east there were patches of blue sky peeking through, to the west there were dark cloud hanging below the lighter clouds. It sprinkled a few times, but we didn't actually get any rain.
This was not manipulated. I don't have photoshop, just basic Kodak software. All that I did was make minor adjustments to the exposure and color balance. (Even more dramatic viewed large.)

You see, all approaches to life work when things are going well, but test is the storm represented by words like cancer, bankruptcy, fired, divorce, terminal. Even smaller storms can drive us to the edge, and sometimes over, unless we've committed ourselves completely to this awesome Savior named Jesus. He loves you unconditionally. He proved that when He died on that cross for the very sins you've done against Him. He's willing to put your life in His eternal keeping and give you eternal life beginning the day you entrust yourself totally to Him. You could do that right where you are. Maybe you could pray like this, "Lord Jesus, I've been trying to do it without a Savior. I've lived my last day without you Lord. I believe you died to pay the death penalty for my sins and today I'm putting my total trust in you to begin a relationship with God. I need a Savior."
You don't need to fear the storm if you know you're ready because your life is in hands that will never, never drop you. Jesus - the One who during a life-threatening storm stepped to the bow of the boat He was in and said, "Peace, be still" and it was. He will do that for you in your storm.
