Today's Posting - #TP81 - Street scenes capture life on the go, be it bustling city or quaint village. Make a photo of a street scene today.
I took various scenes of our quiet village, nothing much happening, but the sky above the rooftops was far more interesting. So I did get out, wander the streets and ended up with a fantastic sky shot above the streets instead!!

Thunderstorms rolling through north central Iowa late afternoon, with cloud formations that have serious intent! Just the color alone is not a good sign....
Looks like an episode of "Lord Of The Rings!"
A fast moving storm moved through the area this afternoon. Strong wind gusts with lightning. The National Weather Service even issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and a Tornado Alert. Fortunately, the storm zipped through the area and was gone in about 30 minutes and when it left, it took all the hot air and humidity with it. It ended up being a gorgeous evening.
This is a quick 1 hour speedpainting of a couple of ships stuck in a storm. I've always wanted to paint one of these pictures, and I think this is a theme I'm likely to revisit as my skills improve. I painted it in the gimp with my wacom, punching the colour up a touch using my gmic filter "60s cinema fx" set to "Carey Grant."
The first storm chase of 2013 was pretty intense, some of the heaviest rain I've ever encounter and got to see a proto-tornado.
February 23, 2019 - Rochester, NY - Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the deployment of state resources to the Western New York and Finger Lakes regions in advance of a weather system this weekend that will bring extremely strong winds that could result in property damage and power outages. Winds are expected to gust at or above 45 mph much of Sunday night and Monday over the vast majority of the state, with gusts approaching 75 mph at times in Western New York and western portions of the North Country. Utilities are prepared to respond 24 hours a day to power disruptions and are mandated to implement their emergency response plans when needed. The Governor has activated 100 members of the National Guard to respond to debris clearing missions. Additionally, empty tractor trailers and empty tandems will be banned from portions of the New York State Thruway and some interstate highways in the Western New York, Central New York and Finger Lakes Regions beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday, February 24. A storm that moved across the island earlier tonight. This is the main culprit behind the disruption of Manhattanhenge earlier this evening.
I took this from the opening of my garage. I safely catch my weather photos and out of harms way.
On a tripod with a remote and 2 sec exposure.
