Some recent water flow here leaves the ground dry but makes for interesting patterns to the riverbed.

Main roads closed we head off road.

July 3, 2004 - Kearney Nebraska US

Already Severe Warned.... that rolled through right before the city of Kearney lit of their annual 4th of July fireworks display. People were scattering for their vehicles...

It was very calm before this storm. Hot & humid it was. Just to make this a bit more eerie, as it moved very slowly as it approached the city. 14 mph ... due east she was gathering strength.

Wind gusts up to 65mph with quarter sized hail! My kind of Storm!

Ain't no thing like a chicken wing.

our first Tornado, in a place called Canada Texas

My friends and I chased this storm from north of Ellinwood to Salina KS following it on highway 156 and 140. there was storm chasers following this storm. we saw up to 20 cars ahead of us on highway 140. You know you're on the right storm when there's tons of chasers everywhere and the DOW (doppler on wheels), from OK. 5-8-21.

Something simple like train tracks, give a symmetry that 's unique.

Mainly east of Wichita, KS this time

After the beastly supercell moved on, we were left with a double rainbow more clear than I've ever seen one. It was a beautiful sight, and yes, the light really was like that - I didn't change the colouring whatsoever!

that's me and a tornado behind me!

Very approached view of the storm which will turn into HP supercell soon.

August 6, 2007 - Kearney Nebraska US

It was probably the best photographic night storm of the summer. Fast asleep as the weather radio awoke my wife and I. The NWS had put out a severe thunderstorm warning for East Dawson and western Buffalo counties...

The storm was building and by the time it was on the outskirts of Kearney. We had intense winds, quarter sized hail and one hell of a shelf cloud!

Note the flash on the left hand CG strike. I saw more power flashes than I could count with these strikes.

Jeremy Shields presented a program on June 12, 2014, about how he developed a fascination with weather, how to best prepare for a chase, and some of the imagery he's captured in the process.

A big tornadic supercell throws off baseball and larger sized hail at 10am! This cell dropped a tornado at 3am for a short while.
