Devil's Bridge, Ceredigion, Wales - 21st March, 2018

I visited Vaxholm Castle this summer. It's a small fortress, originally constructed by Gustav Vasa in 1544. These steps – I think there were 137 of them – lead to the tower. Photographing them proved difficult as a bunch of children kept running up and down without pause, but I managed.

This is actually two photos that I blended into one. Does it still count as a diptych? Probably not.

Dragons are signs of good fortune in Vietnamese culture. These very fanciful dragons flank a set of steps to the New Palace in the Citadel, the imperial palace complex in Hue, Vietnam. The New Palace was built in the latter half of the 19th century during the French colonial period and was a blend of European and Vietnamese styles and motifs. The imperial family resided here until the 1940s up to when the revolution began that eventually forced out the French in the 1950s.

Thank goodness for our plow guys who plow and shovel our walk and stairs— worth every penny! And bless my DD who keeps up with any snow that falls between their stops. Farther north of us they got 20+ inches, so we felt lucky.

While exploring a new area of beach in Carlsbad, I found these steps leading down to the beach built into the rocks and found it to be a really cool foreground for a nice California sunset :) Enjoy!
