River Mite (2-8-2)
Year of Build: 1966
Wheel arrangement: 2-8-2
Length: 24ft
Colour: Furness Railway Dark Red
River Mite is owned by the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway Preservation Society, and first entered service in 1967. Built by Clarkson’s of York using components from River Esk’s steam tender, the engine made history when it was delivered to Ravenglass by traction engine. River Mite attracted a great deal of publicity when new, her distinctive Indian Red Livery from the old Furness Railway sets her apart from similiar River Esk features. She has travelled as far as Dresden in Germany as an ambassador for the R & ER.
Silver Dollar City is a sort of "hillbilly" theme park near Branson, Missouri. This section of the park has a number of old buildings moved from their original setting, as well as some antique machinery. This is a steam powered tractor. I didn't find much information on it.
The whitestone townscape of Oamaru contains some of the best-preserved heritage buildings in New Zealand. In the late 19th century, the town prospered through goldmining, quarrying and timber milling. Some of the wealth was spent on elegant stone buildings made from local limestone. The Harbour-Tyne Street area is particularly special – and the shopping is great too. After exploring the Victorian precinct, swing by the steampunk playground and museum.
Oamaru Harbour is home to a colony of little blue penguins, and you can also see yellow-eyed penguins from a special hide. Penguin viewing is best just before sunset.

WD 2-8-0 Austerity No. 90733 climbs Oakworth Bank on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway with a demonstration morning freight train, during the Winter Steam Gla 13th October 2010.
Union Pacific's steam locomotive Big Boy 4014 arrives in Gila Bend, Arizona, during his tour of the American southwest. Weighing in at 1.2 million pounds, Big Boy is the largest steam locomotive ever built, and is the only operational example of this class of locomotive. He is truly a sight to behold!
The North London tank had its LMS identity restored for an earlier event in 2023 and now sits on display on Platform 1 at Horsted Keynes

UP steam engines on the way to Ogden Ut for the 150th anniversary of the Joining of the rails in 1869. UP4014 is the main attraction.
The famous Adler Steam engine from BlueBrixx is a real great set. Motorized with 9V, running smoothly. But the weight is high, so the axles have been replaced by original Lego ones.
The Lake Tahoe Railway and Transportation Company was a 16-mile (26 km), 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge railroad that ran from a connection with the Central Pacific Railway at Truckee, California to the waterfront at Lake Tahoe. The railroad was converted to 4 ft 8 1/2 in (1,435 mm) standard gauge in 1926. The railroad operated its own property from 1899 until October 16, 1925, at which time it was leased to the Southern Pacific Company, which bought the property outright in May 1933. SP abandoned the line in 1943. (Wikipedia)

Valve motion, that is. This is BR 'Standard 5' no. 73156 standing on road 2 at Loughborough, and her warming fire in readiness for the next day has just been lit.
Ahead of her is 'Standard 4' tank loco no. 80080, visiting for the three-day winter gala; she will have her warming fire lit very soon. The class 08 'jocko' on road 1 has been bustling around shunting locomotives most of the day.

WD 71516 Welsh Guardsman storms through Eardington Station working a Hampton Loade to Bridgnorth local service 23rd April 2022
WD Austerity 0-6-0 ST 71516 Welsh Guardsman was built for the War Department by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns in 1944
When we visited St Neot's in Cornwall recently, this impressive steam locomotive called "Janet" was parked opposite. It was recovered from Scotland and looks as good as the day it was built in 1922 . It weighs 14 tons and was used at a stone crushing plant . It now belongs to the Daniel family steam ploughing in Cornwall . In the background you can see the oak apple tree on the church tower which is an annual celebration of Charles II to the throne of England. Any excuse to party !
My next take on a practical, peumatic-driven Lego steam locomotive. The design is the "American" class 4-4-0 of the 1870ies.
The tender hides a capable pneumatic compressor that powers the 2 cylinder, long stroke 'steam' engine.
The "bopper" type caboose offers ample room for a battery box and rc receiver of choice. A Buwizz unit may be installed directly in the engine's cab, alternatively.
On of the pressing problems in rail vehicle design in the 19th century, next to the brake problem, was the coupling problem. I designed a new, brick-built coupler suitalbe for automatic coupling and decoupling, to circumvent the drawbacks and dangers of the contemporary link-and-pin coupling.

If it weren't for the colour-light signals and the catenary, this scene could have been way back when. Oh, and for the concrete sleepers too...
OK, it's nothing like how things were... but it's still good to see steam on a national network in 2023.
Completing an overnight eastbound run out of Durango, CO, a pair of elderly D&RGW locomotives run the last half mile toward the company yards in Chama, NM, where the engine crews hope to get breakfast. The helper leading this morning is D&RGW C-18 #315, with K-27 #463 as the road engine. The pair are pictured not far from the Chama southern yard limit, near Milepost 344.4.
This image was captured during a September 2013 photo shoot on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, which featured Locomotives 315 and 463 operating together and on separate trains for 4 days all across the 64-mile railroad. The 463 is owned and operated by the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and often hauls the regular passenger trains out of Antonito, CO. The 315 is owned and operated by the Durango Railroad Historical Society and although she's technically based in Silverton, CO, she's been resident here on the C&TS and operating on special trains for over a decade.
