After reading the group discussion concerning "Conceptual photography", I started to think, whether one could understand it as an additional dimension of the image, which involves thinking, understanding or some kind of mental processing. Just to give you an example, I saw a beautiful black and white photo of an empty room with only a piano and a chair. It was titled "After the last chords..." , which brought the watcher immediately inside this room and its silence - into the moment that had been. It was maybe closer to the traditional photography, but illustrates the process, which takes place, when we add an additional dimension into the image.
THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE A PERSONAL POLITICAL STATEMENT BY ME TO GENERATE DEBATE CONVERSATION – Rather, I found the scene offered a highly dramatic and photojournalistic opportunity with its display and complimentary surround...just so right for a monochrome image.
I found the display next to a small church in rural Iowa located near two intersecting crossroads that would force you to see it travelling from either direction.

My lover is (weather permitting!!) about to whisk me off to New York for the Christmas and New Year Holidays - so I will be away from my photostream for the next couple of weeks. That is, if we ever manage to get away from the snowbound UK! What I really want is a lover with their own private jet! Any offers?
In the meantime, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of my wonderful friends here on Flickr! It has been marvellous sharing 2010 with you all! See you all again in 2011!
Kisses under the mistletoe!

Rollei Retro 80S with 715nm IR filter, developed in XTOL 1+2 for 12:00 minutes.
I wanted more detail, more subtle tones and less grain. I also wanted to get rid of the black dots which haunted my Rollei IR400 film. All that has been achieved, so I'm happy.

For the pahmphlet i was stuck by this sentence within the assignment "a radical message in a radical way." So i first thought about what a radical way was. I believe this is when it's unerasable. So i was thinking about writing with lipstick on some white walls in the school and what not. Then it developped in being an unerasable image in peoples minds. Or maybe what wpuld.ignite the most reaction.
As i did a naked performance once in school, and some were kind of crossed by that. And i knew that my breasts evoked this same kind of reaction on people, both on social media, in public and even under a shirt without bra, i wanted to do something with the ridicoulousness of this given. Especially nipples being censured as breasts are over sexualized and the increasing prudishness of society, which is especially taken out on female bodies, i wanted to question the radicality of my flesh. Is this radical enough for you? Is it radical at all? Police sure did thought so.
With writing variations of this question on my breats until covered, I state that breasts shouldn't be so radical - which apparently was quite a radical message an sich.

Art by Léon Frédéric (1856-1940) seen at the Musée d'Orsay. This 1895 triptych titled "The Ages of the Worker" or "Les âges de l'ouvrier" With women mothering on the right, struggling workers laboring on the left and the the children caught in the middle with not a smile on a single face, makes for quite a social statement.
The artist has another compelling social statement that can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art called The Three Sisters. I've posted a photo of that work with the text "Léon Frédéric (August 26, 1856 – January 27, 1940) was a Belgian Symbolism painter. During the 1890’s his paintings of improvised workers and peasants were celebrated for forthrightness and arresting intensity. In this painting the humdrum activity of peeling potatoes seem to clash with bright red dresses but the downcast eyes and facial expressions match the activity." The young girls peeling potatoes in that painting tie in with the girl in the red dress grasping a loaf of bread in this triptych.
My brief description of "The Ages of the Worker" doesn't come anywhere near capturing the emotion of this social statement, so I'll copy and paste the English translation of the Musée d'Orsay page on this triptych.
"Throughout his career, the Brussels symbolist painter Léon Frédéric has inscribed his work in the great Flemish Baroque tradition. He does not hesitate to resort to the old arrangement in the form of a triptych, and to fill each of his shutters with an abundant and powerfully expressive crowd in his gestures as well as in his attitudes. So it is with the three strands united under the name The ages of the worker which stages dozens of characters. The left panel favors the representation of men and works of strength; The panel on the right, that of women in their maternal functions. In the middle, from childhood to youth, parade those who leave the school, the workshop or the building site.
Counterpoint of this human tide which is directed towards the spectator, In the center of the picture, towards the background moves away the funeral convoy which evokes the inevitable epilogue of all existence. The presence of red flags around the hearse inscribes this last tribute in line with the social demands of the late nineteenth century, which was supported by some of the contemporary creators.
The drawing, exacerbated by the use of an argentine light that glides over the forms and defines them clearly, reinforces the impression of animation and saturation of the space wanted by the painter. Whether you agree or not, the owners of this property were making a statement about their beliefs on abortion. It wasn't a pretty scene - there was almost no color, a fine powdery snow in the air made it look hazy, and the remains of the adjacent house were a charred ruin from a recent fire. That being said, sometimes art and opinion go hand in hand.
