We're on the way to The Mud/Cobra Field.
Lots of rain the last few days and last night
it was a nasty storm. Lightning, Wind, Rain !
At midnight things were calming down
a little bit but at 3:AM it started back up.
By 5:AM it had completely stopped so I
took an hour nap. By 7:AM we took off ;-)
Field was extremely wet, mud was
trying to pull a Mr Murphy on me.
I out maneuvered him today. No
emergency equipment needed.
Dogs went nuts, racing, leaping,
yodeling, and doing back flips.
And of course they had to dive
right into the cow manure bags.
Once home all 3 dogs are washed
while still tethered in the sidecar.
Then it was breakfast time ;-)---

There are just some photographs that need to be in monochrome or black and white. It gives a more powerful statement to the photo and what the photo is depicting. Such as the case here, when Ella came to visit today.

Got to see this image on white it’s really cool. This is a vertorama of a road under path alley near my girlfriend’s home. I was driving home last night from hers about 8 for pancakes (yummy) and I remembered this alley. I had me gear in the car. I down a quick u turn on the roundabout and shot into the local shops were this is located. Got out and took this HDR vertorama. I was getting some really strange looks for people passing by. Oh well, what you do in the name of Art.
The image to me is quite interesting. The detail along each wall, the difference in the art between old and modern, a transition between the social histories of the local area. What they used to do on the left and what they do now on the right (farming and graffiti art). I love the monochrome on the left and the very bright colours on the right, and right in the distance at the vanishing point is the commercial shops. Post modernism at is finest. Lol.
The shot is a three section vertorama created from 15 images. 5 Bracketed images for top, middle and the bottom. Processed in photmatix and then DRI treated on the lights, shop and coloured wall, and final treatment was all done in photoshop.
Taken on a Nikon d300 using a 10-20mm sigma.

I wanted more detail, more subtle tones and less grain. I also wanted to get rid of the black dots which haunted my Rollei IR400 film. All that has been achieved, so I'm happy.

artist statement: Multiverse celebrates the richness of cross cultural connections in our lives. As an Iranian-Australian I explore multi-layered association of reminiscence and belonging with nature-culture through experiencing the opportunity of living in both environments. Cut roots have long been metaphorically associated with human migration and displacement. These tree stumps carry tattoo-like imagery that are burnt into their skins and are inspired by traditional Persian patterns and calligraphy. They were collected at Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt CootTha an
d belong to widespread species in Queensland that were once planted from introduced seeds.

Abused, Abandoned Jungle Dogs.
Pumpkin & Boney jumped into the sidecar
as soon as I touched my helmet. Soon we
are on our way to the field they like to play
in. Turned off the paved road onto a dirt path.
200 meters away where the dirt path takes a
90 degree turn into this field I saw a movement.
Figured it was a stray dog so I took my time getting
to the turn. 50 meters from said 90 degree turn both
dogs started air scenting. This is a very large area which
means the stray dog has had plenty of time to disappear.
Pulled into the usual spot, dismounted, let the dogs
off their leashes. They sniffed the ground and took off.
No Big Deal -
This will give them a chance to
have a run and wear them out.
While getting the camera out I heard
the dogs. Somebody screamed and
just as fast I see them coming at me.
They passed by at 100 mile per hour, dashed
down a real steep river bank & into the river.
By the time I made it to the river bank this
dog was already going up the otherside.
We spent another 45 minutes in the field
then head back home where both dogs
are washed while still tethered in the
sidecar. This method works well ;-)

Voor de ingang van Algemene Zaken, stond een jonge vrouw op een kruk met ontbloot bovenlijf terwijl ze haar borsten met viltstiften aan het roodkleuren was. Niemand wist wat hier gebeurde, na enig rondvragen zei iemand: "vraag het haar zelf maar". Dus dat deed ik. "Ik maak een statement" zei ze. Waarover, waartegen, waarom? "Een radicaal statement" zei ze. Maar ondertussen kwamen 2 politieagenten die haar sommeerden de borsten te bedekken en mee te komen naar.... nog onbekend.
Iemand vroeg mijn kaartje (heb ik altijd bij me) want ze wilden deze foto's wel hebben. Ik hoor later wel waarover dit radicale statement ging.

For the pahmphlet i was stuck by this sentence within the assignment "a radical message in a radical way." So i first thought about what a radical way was. I believe this is when it's unerasable. So i was thinking about writing with lipstick on some white walls in the school and what not. Then it developped in being an unerasable image in peoples minds. Or maybe what wpuld.ignite the most reaction.
As i did a naked performance once in school, and some were kind of crossed by that. And i knew that my breasts evoked this same kind of reaction on people, both on social media, in public and even under a shirt without bra, i wanted to do something with the ridicoulousness of this given. Especially nipples being censured as breasts are over sexualized and the increasing prudishness of society, which is especially taken out on female bodies, i wanted to question the radicality of my flesh. Is this radical enough for you? Is it radical at all? Police sure did thought so.
With writing variations of this question on my breats until covered, I state that breasts shouldn't be so radical - which apparently was quite a radical message an sich.

Just returned from the monkey temple down the road from our place.
Never know what to expect upon arriving and this trip was no different in that respect.
Coming around a corner at the base of the mountain I could hear festive music unlike the other day when all I herd was temple dogs barking and monkeys fighting.
Getting closer I observed workers putting up bleachers and a stage along with canvas shade with plastic chairs common here in Thailand.
Music sounded old Thai and very pleasant to the ears.
Spotted some shade under a big old tree close to where the bananas had been, pulled in and dismounted with camera in hand.
Slowly walked over where some monkeys were devouring a pile of Jack Fruit, found a safe comfortable spot and just started watching.
Seemed to be a number of females young and old, most with new born baby's in tow.
After about 10 minutes I noticed the females were having some kind of dispute among them. Soon it was obvious what was taking place !
Older females were attempting to kidnap the baby's from the younger females, which is only a guess on my part.
Many ideas come into play, sense there was a new Alpha Male ruling the tribe maybe they were trying to kill off the old Alpha's off spring. Maybe they were jealous, maybe I don't really have a clue !
A couple kidnappers ran off into the jungle with a new born never to be seen again. This is real life in the jungle. Brutal at times, Beautiful at others.
This little guy was terrified but reunited with his mom only seconds after this photo, she was only an arms length away and keeping a close eye on him.
Right after arriving the sun broke through the overcast sky and the temperature sky rocketed as did the humidity!
Figured a rain storm was about to take place at any time, so I shot fast.
Didn't take long and a couple of rain drops hit my hat, large like a marble and fast. Stepped back under an over hang of rock and boom sky opened up.
While standing there big vans started pulling in full of Thais here for some type of Buddhist ceremony.
As fast as the rain came it ended but one could see this is only the first of what the sky had in store for us.
Fired off a couple hundred more shots and figured this is good for today as lightning was now starting to make it's presence known in a violent display of noise and light.
Pulled the rain cover over the Think Tank Bag, mounted my ride and headed for home before being caught up in another down pour that was on it's way.
4 clicks from home the sky once again opened up right behind me and started to do it's thing.
Leaned forward, twisted the wick on my scooter and went for it.
Had no choice, rain was right on my heals, falling faster and faster and catching up quickly.
Came flying down the drive way and into the carport just as the whole sky lit up and opened up, close one...;-)

Of course WeeNee and The Worm were nice and dry waiting for my return, they both had been stretched out on the steps under cover with out a worry in the world.
For the most part I made it unscathed, slightly wet on the back and top of shoulders, no big deal at all.
Right now it's hard to see the other side of the river it's coming down so hard, monsoon will be here in June.
As for the duct tape, knife, and tape is if I get bit, wrap it and head for help. Knife is for what ever use it needs to be used for.
For the next week or so there will be a number of monkey photos coming, hope your up for it. Thanks in advance ..;-)

Union Pacific Challenger 3985, world's largest operating steam locomotive, makes a statement in steam as it backs out of Kansas City Union Station.
I woke up and heard about it and watched the video asap.
And I'm shocked. Mattel seriously has to go back to the roots! What is this?! After today I'll stop buying MH dolls forever.
That's not the Monster High I grew to like.
For someone who looks at the brand from time to time it's not a big deal. But for someone like me who knows and collects the dolls since 5 years it's a pure shock.
In the video and in Mattel's official statement it says that they're changing the brand (which means the drastic face change) because MH is considered to be "too dark and scary" especially by mothers. In fact, when I got my first MH doll (Frankie Stein Wave 1) my mother said (I was 12 years old) that she looks too scary for a girl like me. But I liked the style. I still do.
Additionally Mattel is ruining the whole concept Garrett Sander created. It said "Be who you are" "Be unique" "Don't change because someone doesn't like how you look"! Well then Mattel, why are you doing the exact opposite of the thing you want MH to represent?! That doesn't make any sense! They still want MH to represent all those things BUT are changing the way the dolls look. ONLY for a minority of people who think the dolls look "too dark and scary".
They also mention that their target group is "10-12 years old" and will like the change (cuter look and so on). I don't think so. The collectors are the majority.
Now to the dolls. The only thing I kind of like are the eyes. They look cuter and work well for a doll. That's it.
When you look at the doll as a whole it doesn't work! The eyes are cute but don't work for a MH doll and this doll at all!
The lips don't work, too. I liked the shiny and neutral look they had before. Now they're smiling to much. They didn't look creepy or scary before. But they'll after this reroot!
Another thing that bothers me: They kept Cleo's and Clawdeen's design. But why did they change Frankie and Draculaura completely?! When you look closely you can see that they even changed Frankie's stitches. They're not even visible at the reroot. Before they stood out and you could clearly see them. With the reroot it seems that Mattel tried to hide them. Of course they wanted to make it look more colorful but that's not the point!
I'm disappointed and sad that it had to end this way. I'll keep my old MH dolls forever with the message they had a few years ago.
When Mattel brought lines like Monster Exchange and Bloom and Gloom I hoped that the brand will go back to the roots. After 2 years I had the urge to complete lines and buy dolls. Since that Circus line (I don't even know the name. That's how interested I am in these dolls.) it got worse again. But this reroot is the worst of them all. MH will go down for a lot of collectors.
