I didn't want to do it. I tried to reason with this local group of "economic terrorists" but they saw no reason to deal with the likes of me. Finally, I sat down in my office one evening and made my statement. If the "child's play" doesn't stop I'll get the London Press involved. I'm no Pamela Anderson as I have many years on her but I guarantee I'll fill the parking lot next door to the anti-fur offices with photographers who will take my picture, minus this fur coat, just to prove a point. No worries, I'll keep the shoes on.......its sort of my thing anyways."
The picture and that "Do Not Cross Me" look on my face was enough to send the local anti-fur people packing. Next, they began their attack strategy against a friend of mine who is in the fur business as well. My friend Morty attempted to invoke the same strategy. Unfortunately, the suspenders on his socks which hold them up, his lace up, spit shined shoes and a fur coat mostly covering his body did not have the same effect as my picture. I guess he thought humor would do the job. It didn't and the battle began between them. I did what I had to do and I would have done whatever it had taken without hesitation. There is a right way to be in the fur business and then there is the other way. I was glad my approach solved the problem with this anti fur group. As a parting shot in my final letter I wrote "and you can tell Pamela Anderson I hope she looks as good as me when she gets to my age. PS. Won't happen!"
Final Rule of Business: Never run the bluff if you can't or won't follow through.
One day someone is sure to call you on it.
I simply never bluff and that is what makes a business person like me so unpredictable
and at the same time so dangerous.
Mercedes stars often end up damaged, vandalised or stolen. Some owners have them fixed, some just leave it be ... and some get creative, and make a political statement too. I like it.

The choice of face mask seems endless these days as there seems to be so many different designs. Before Tier 3 came in for London I managed to get out to a pub with friends and just before heading to the ladies I put my mask on as is the custom. I like this pink butterfly design, it is so girly.
I was going to take a photo of a very unusual chair which is quite modern a bit of a statement piece but surprisingly comfortable . Ive included this in the first comment box. I changed my mind then to select the chair above. The chair is rosewood and I bought it from an antique shop. A couple of years ago I had a bit of an accident with it and tried pushing it back whilst having something stuck under the leg. a little damage occurred but I took it to a restorer who said it was definitely fixable at a price. It was worth it. It now sits in my daughters old room . Ive put it with an old fruitwood table where it doesn't match but it fits. Both of these items are very tactile and treasured. The table was one I saw in a magazine and fell in love with so I caked the antique shop in London and arranged to go and see it. I remember thinking that it was a bit mad to do that but we all love that too. It is a great size and is very useful especially for present wrapping
The magpie goose (Anseranas semipalmata) is the sole living representative species of the family Anseranatidae. This common waterbird is found in northern Australia and southern New Guinea. As the species is prone to wandering, especially when not breeding, it is sometimes recorded outside its core range. The species was once also widespread in southern Australia, but disappeared from there largely due to the drainage of the wetlands where the birds once bred. The Kunwinjku of western Arnhem Land know this bird as Manimanuk. It became an important food item with the formation of wetlands about 1500 ya, and is depicted in rock art from this period. Mimi figures are often shown holding goose-feather fans.
DESCRIPTION
Magpie geese are unmistakable birds with their black and white plumage and yellowish legs. The feet are only partially webbed, and the magpie goose feeds on vegetable matter in the water, as well as on land. Males are larger than females. Unlike true geese, their moult is gradual, so no flightless period results. Their voice is a loud honking.
SYSTEMATICS AND EVOLUTION
This species is placed in the order Anseriformes, having the characteristic bill structure, but is considered to be distinct from the other species in this taxon. The related and extant families, Anhimidae (screamers) and Anatidae (ducks, geese, and swans), contain all the other taxa. The magpie goose is contained in the genus Anseranas and family Anseranatidae, which are monotypic now.
A cladistic study of the morphology of waterfowl found that the magpie goose was an early and distinctive offshoot, diverging after screamers and before all other ducks, geese, and swans.
This family is quite old, a living fossil, having apparently diverged before the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event — the relative Vegavis iaai lived some 68-67 million years ago. The fossil record is limited, nonetheless. The enigmatic genus Anatalavis (Hornerstown Late Cretaceous or Early Paleocene of New Jersey, USA - London Clay Early Eocene of Walton-on-the-Naze, England) is sometimes considered to be the earliest known anseranatid. Other Paleogene birds sometimes considered magpie-geese are the genera Geranopsis from the Hordwell Formation Late Eocene to the Early Oligocene of England and Anserpica from the Late Oligocene of Billy-Créchy (France). The earliest known member of the group in Australia is an unnamed species represented by fossils found in the late Oligocene Carl Creek Limestone of Queensland. Additional fossils from North America and Europe suggest that the family was spread across the globe during the late Paleogene period. The Australian distribution of the living species ties in well with the presumed Gondwanan origin of Anseriformes, but Northern Hemisphere fossils are puzzling. Perhaps the magpie geese were one of the dominant groups of Paleogene waterfowl, only to become largely extinct later.
ECOLOGY AND STATUS
The magpie goose is found in a variety of open wetland areas such as floodplains and swamps. It is fairly sedentary apart from some movement during the dry season. They are colonial breeders and are gregarious outside of the breeding season when they can form large and noisy flocks of up to a few thousand individuals. Its nest is on the ground, and a typical clutch is 5-14 eggs. Some males mate with two females, all of which raise the young, unlike some other polygamous birds. This may be beneficial when predation of young is high as chicks raised by trios are more likely to survive.
This species is plentiful across its range, although this is significantly reduced in comparison to the range at time of European settlement. The range once extended as far south as the Coorong and the wetlands of the southeast of South Australia and Western Victoria. For Australia as a whole, it is not threatened and has a controlled hunting season when numbers are large. However, most of the southern populations were extirpated in the mid-20th century by overhunting and habitat destruction. The species has been subject to reintroduction projects such as Bool Lagoon between Penola and Naracoorte. Populations in more northern areas have again reached a level where it can be regularly utilized by hunters, although not in the example provided. In Victoria, the magpie goose was listed as near threatened on the 2007 advisory list of threatened vertebrate fauna in Victoria. In the December 2007 Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act list of threatened fauna, it is also listed. As of early 2008, an Action Statement for the recovery and future management of this species had not been prepared.
With the advent of climate change, and more frequent seawater inundations of the current extensive freshwater floodplains, CSIRO scientists argue that Magpie geese populations may be at risk.

A yellow-billed Kite.
Canon R with 70-200mm f/2.8L lens as I didnt have anything with longer reach with me.
Made a few mistakes - should have gone for shorter exposures (1/2000 as minimum) and probably should have switched off IS. Had a dreadfully slow memory card so buffered frequently which didnt help.
Probably should use a bit of exposure compensation as well!
But I'm getting there!
Until now, Ive mostly captured perched birds - I want to work at birds in flight. Hopefully, this is just the start!

Farms, country lanes, meadows, orchards — and a little village church.
And then this building, with its striking façade.
Above the entrance, a sculpted horse’s head — likely a clue to its original function.
It rises above everything around it. The church spire might be slightly taller, but this house commands all the attention. The church almost disappears in comparison.
A bold architectural statement in the heart of a quiet village.

I drove out southwest of town and past a lot of repaired flood destruction on Oxford Road west of Niwot past their cemetery. I caught this well west from the cemetery and Haystack, a pointy hill that always leaves me wondering. In this shot, NOAA Table Mountain is in the background with government experiment stations atop. I don't suppose any of the experiments trickled over the hill and wiped out this farm. This does not look like it happened overnight. This is certainly NFL - not for long. It looks like someone set up a slab of cottonwood trunk for axe throwing practice.
Although still in September and suffering August heat, I'd say summer grasses were done but the cottonwoods and shrubs are still green. It often seems agricultural has been sucked from this area. Fortunately, we can buy food from the Sam n' Ella's farm in Mexico. The area is learning how valuable water in the west really is but have yet to learn the true value of watered land and soil that doesn't need paving.
Strangely, we had a summer that was closer to normal, if high in humidity, but I don't think ignoring climate change or pumping petroleum will make rougher weather go away. This was a summer that was hotter than any on record. This August was hotter then any on record. This September was the hottest on record, all set world wide. perhaps you see a trend. That is at least until the looming petroleum wars are settled and the Koch Brothers and their political tea purchases are put away in their place. Until then CO2 levels in the atmosphere which are at an 850 million year high, will not be turned around. Actually, anti-fracking proposals passed in Colorado.
