Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon makes a statement regarding President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai's acceptance of a run-off election against his opponent, Abdullah Abdullah. A recent UN-backed audit found fraud had been committed in the first round of the Afghan presidential elections and that Mr. Karzai fell short of the 50 percent of votes needed to avoid a second round. Mr. Ban praised the Afghan President's upholding of his nation's Constitution and vowed the United Nations would do its utmost to ensure the second electoral round, scheduled for 7 November 2009, would be conducted in a free, fair, transparent and secure environment.

We walked a good distance down the beach, then turned around as the sun neared the horizon and walked back toward the campground path. We passed the horses and found a place at the edge of the surf to watch the waves for a while. The horses ignored us.

And then they didn't. They stood together by the dunes maybe 300 feet away for a long while, then started walking toward us. Straight toward us. They didn't walk quickly. It was an ambling pace, but it was dinfintely right toward us. When they got about 50 feet away, we decided they weren't going around and got up and moved toward the path, out of their way.

The horses kept moving toward where we'd been sitting, and I got this picture, which was blurry because the sun had set and the light was fading quickly. The horses stopped when they reached the spot where we had sat. They paused for a long, tense moment. And then they raised their tails and let loose where we had reclined.

The definition of communication is a statement made and received. We got the message. We have communicated with wild horses. They told us this was their beach.

Was out for a walk today and saw the wall of statements posters were up already. Officially opens on Tuesday. You'd defiantly need to go and have a look at them in person.

Note-Grids are a tool for collecting and connecting objects of thought (in this case, words).

They treat words and other manifestations of thought as objects that can be freely manipulated to create new meaning.

They break meaning up into individual words to facilitate a more fluid, intuitive, and improvisational approach to knowledge production.

Make your own fashion statement. I'm all about making a statement. If you have time, I highly recommend creating some Wilshire Warrior Rompers for the coaching staff and GMs. The Hawaiian team coaches wore sarongs and gave out pooka beads after games. Other teams did something similar based on where they were from. Also, the team should get involved as well. Since we are from California, you should have them meditate on the field instead of warming up. LOL. I had to throw in my sense of humor on this.

Bib statement necklace featuring five handmade navy blue silk roses with scattered faux pearls and crystals in burgundy, gold and rose colours. Finished with a gold satin ribbon.

The bib measures 3" in length and is 5.5" in width. The ribbon is 27" on each side and can be tied as you like to achieve the desired length.

The residents all got a kick out of Mercy's outfits this weekend. I explained that the shirts were to cover her incision, but most of them thought she should continue to wear them even after she's healed :))

This piece imagines a near-future workplace where environmental policy arrives not with inspiration, but through mandates and memos.

I wanted it to feel both official and absurd — like something you'd see taped to a break room door and quietly dread.

Dr. Jatinder Baidwan, chief coroner, has released the following statement regarding the decision to direct an inquest into the events that occurred in Tumbler Ridge on Feb. 10, 2026:

“On the afternoon of Feb. 10, 2026, an entire community was forever changed and multiple families who call Tumbler Ridge home received the catastrophic news that their loved ones had lost their lives.

“The news that an individual had killed two adults and six children in a private residence and a local secondary school quickly spread across national and international media. With that, came passionate public discussions about mental health and possible gaps in support systems.

“It is with this in mind that I have reflected on the BC Coroners Service’s responsibility to reinforce confidence in the system and support public safety in British Columbia when it comes to all sudden, unnatural and unexpected deaths, and all children’s deaths.

“That is why, pursuant to Section 18 of the Coroners Act, I am directing a coroner’s inquest to publicly review the circumstances that led to nine individuals losing their lives in Tumbler Ridge on Feb. 10.

“An inquest will provide an independent and transparent forum to publicly examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, assess systemic and procedural issues, and make evidence-based recommendations aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future. Importantly, it will involve the participation of the people in British Columbia through a jury of five to seven people.

“My sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones. The grief they are experiencing at this time is unimaginable. The BC Coroners Service will continue to work with the families and the community of Tumbler Ridge to make sure their needs are met and their questions answered.

“An announcement with more details about the timing of the inquest will be provided once our investigative phase is concluded.”

The images I have chosen for my mini portfolio are some of my favourite pieces of work from my foundation course so far. It’s a compilation of textiles, photography, life drawing and research.

The images demonstrate my interest in colour and texture. As part of a one day group task to show our initiative, we used wet wipes to create a garment with a really different and unusual texture. Texture was the theme of my alphabet collage, and I also explored photography, creating a found alphabet in the environment.

As an example of life drawing I have chosen a page of short 5 minute colour studies because I really enjoyed experimenting with mixed media and collage. I love to draw and sketch, especially quick drawings using techniques such as continuous line with pen and water.

We were asked to reinvent a shirt. I transformed my shirt into a lampshade and I think it worked well because the outcome was completely different from where I started with an old school shirt. I found that researching the history of the shirt was really interesting, from looking at shirts from the 17th century to the history of women’s shirts.

Recently, our brief was ‘Skeletal Structures` where I decided to look at the structure of fabrics. I experimented with a range of knitted samples and drew them to create a pattern. This was my favourite brief so far because I had the chance to experiment with knitting, which I love!
