Startrails around the North and South poles as seen from La Silla.

2013 257

My first attempt at startrails. I cannot wait to try this again. I used this software to combine 119 images:

My first try shooting the stars at night with a really long exposure, about 20 minutes. I did it in my garden which is very small and I think I must find a place with more space in future star shootings. But I got the concept and will probably try again another time. At least this photo has the swedish colors of blue and yellow. :-)

It also look better large:

I wish i had a wide lens or a full frame.I don't even own a remote yet.The moon is so bright tonight and my short sightedness din't let me find out the stars clearly.

This is the view from my rooftop.

I used self timer option, took 153 photos with 30seconds shutter speed at an interval of .50 seconds.hence the gaps between the trail.

Nearly two hours’ worth of star trails over empty ruins once secret military complex. Shame that sky were rather hazy and camera couldn't pick up fainter ones.

This was my first attempt creating some startrails with my new 11mm lens, and then a meteor came along and ruined the whole job!.

Penrith star trails..

Hi All..

This was a slack attempt to get some meteors without going out of town.. this was shot in the middle of suburbia in my backyard...

514 30sec shots or about 4.5hrs..

I got two satellites, one helicopter, two planes... but alas no meteors...

I hope u all had a great w/e..

Startrails über Hohenpeißenberg

appprox. 15 mins of startrail. i love these trees on the west kilbride/ardrossan road.and have been dying to do this for ages. the orange glow is from west kilbride. some cloud moved in halfway through the shot so is topped before it got much worse.

The north pier getting some love.

This is my first attempt of shooting stars trail. I know there is allot of noise in the photo…but it was my first attempt and worth documenting …at least for me.

These are 66 shots combined in one photo using Startrails version 1.1. The pictures were taken in Oman Wahiba Sands

My first atempt to creating the startrails effect. I'm not really happy with this picture, but it's my first atempt, so I hope I'll get better :)

Made from 128 thirty-second exposures; the same ones I made the movie out of (but not all of them; I stopped before the sky got too bright).

Doveva essere molto più lungo, ma causa appannamento lente per l'umidità, mi son fermato a 100 scatti, ormai era diventato impossibile continuare.

It's been a while since I did a proper startrail shot. This is from my backyard with a Rokinon 8mm fisheye. I started this shot at 9:30 (after fighting with my shutter release ... I think it is smarter than me) and ended it around 11:00. I love the clouds moving through. A lot of people think that you need clear skies to make a good startrail, but I tend to like the ones with cloud movement. Now if I could just coordinate with Dulles airport to shutdown the air traffic while I am shooting then I will be in business.

Thanks for looking.

Yesterday I tried to take an image of startrails above our house. As it happens, the ISS used the opportunity to make an appearance in my photo.

Ive wanted to have a go at this for a while but had to figure out how to do it. So I set the camera up in the back garden stuck on the 20mm lens, set the focus to infinity at F2.8 and let the camera take 110 shots of 30 secs. Ive stacked the low res reference jpegs together in a freeware Startrails program and this was the result.

I had to take out 10 shots when my next door neighbours cat set off the outside light which is why there is a gap in some of the trails. I also captured 2 aircraft and a satelite. Woo Hoo. I just need to find a dark place with some interest now and have a go at something creative. Where are the car keys........
