The crowds gathered after a slow start on the Mall for the first King's Official Birthday. The Trooping the Colour took place at Horse Guards Parade, with the King riding a horse, along with Prince William, Princes Anne and Prince Edward. A flypast of the red arrows took place with the traditional wave from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

On Monday, with lockdown in Wales lifted, Steffi and Carmen made an early start from West Wales to cross the border for a day on the English side of the Brecon Beacons.
We headed over to Longtown, in the valley at the foot of Hatterall Ridge and climbed up via The Cats Back, continuing on to Hay Bluff before heading back via the Olchon Valley. Wonderful views and So Many Greens!
We ended up walking 17 miles on The Black Hill - a bit more than planned. We were all very grateful for Phil's flapjack (plus a pot and a half of tea) when we got back, followed by butternut squash curry. Just right.

Getting closer to Renjo Pass, headache really starting to kick in, face puffing up..AMS here we come...approx 4,850m, above Lungden, Nepal... Some "independent traveller" in the background who was SO Independent that she remarkably got up at 3.30am, the same as us, started on the trail up to Renjo Pass, same as us, and walked at the same pace as us the minute the path became uncertain... Hmmmm... Independent my ass...pay for guides people!!
