Of course every morning provides an opportunity for a fresh start, but when you are the first to put footprints in the sand, well, that is a very special fresh start.

I started slowly today and Jane left for her health walk before my planned Tuesday escape and I was held back a bit longer when the window cleaners turned up. They are an odd pair but they have done our windows for ages since the year dot. Yet another bill I pay . In the end it was after noon when I threw an apple and an Eat Natural bar into my battered rucksack . I decided on somewhere near and simple so parked at Greenfield and walked along the River Flit to Flitton Moor. It was very hot and not much was moving. I met a nice lady taking a lunchtime stroll from her home working for The Department of Health in Whitehall. I disturbed a Chinese Water Deer that charged off across a stubble field. I tried, rather unsuccessfully, to photo some dragonflies in flight . Also quite a few Large Whites, a solitary Small Copper as well as 4 or 5 Speckled. Woods. I had my aforesaid lunch in the shade and then made my way back to the Yeti getting back very tired, very hot and a bit hungry .

Tonight I caught up a Gardeners World, some more mad gardeners doing gooseberries, roses and succulents. Some excellent material and ideas to follow up.

After that the last episode of Strike and now to bed. I have been called in for removing two crane flies from the master bedroom so I have my uses.

So overall a good day and a day at home doing jobs tomorrow.
