By this time I was able to climb the tree next to it and got a decent vantage point. From this pic onwards the pics became quite gory as it started disembovelling the fish until it ate every last bit....

Looks like they're finally going ahead with construction of the new apartment building at the corner of Richmond Rd. & Woodroffe Ave.
I had been thinking of finding another apartment elswhere, but I just got laid off, so I guess I'll be suffering through ongoing construction next door soon.
I’ve had my eye on a particular culm of bamboo - amidst the numerous which have sprung up accidentally at the back of our place. I harvested it today, and will be embarking on what may be a very long process of trying to make a shakuhachi.
This is after using the kitchen stove for an initial drawing-out of moisture; it’s quite a bit paler already.

Canning day with some extra help! We started with 2 bushels of tomatoes from the grocery store at $10 each. The tomatoes that didn't make the cut for canning became sauce to freeze, while the rest went into a whole whack of jars.
Washing, blanching, peeling, cutting, jarring, and processing - that's a lot of work! In the end we came up with 29 L jars and 18 500-ml jars of halved or diced tomatoes.
And tomato juice all over the kitchen. And tired feet!
