Short start touchdown at the Domstein (old Roman pillar) in front of the Trier cathedral

The pilot started the starboard turboprop and idled for about ten minutes before taxiing towards the runway.

Actually by doing so he also started the much needed, air conditioning as it was getting pretty stuffy and hot inside the cabin.

Small planes like the ATR 72 don't have an on-board APU (auxiliary power unit) like bigger commercial jets do, so they have to run one of the engines in order to get the air conditioning running just as you would with your car.

In the case of the ATR 72, the pilot could also apply the propeller brake so that the blades would be stationary but I guess in the 45+ degree Celsius heat on the tarmac having the propeller blades cool the main engine is a good idea.

This is one of Jazz's kittens at the rescue centre. They're about 7 weeks old now and they're being shown to potential adopters. It won't be too long before they're old enough to "leave home". Jazz is a wonderful mother, but you can see that she likes to have a break from them every now and again. While I was there on Monday the kittens were all allowed out for a run around. Jazz took the opportunity to shoot through the swing doors to the staff area for some peace and quiet. She ate a whole bowl of food while I kept the little ones entertained!

OK, I will stop boring those who love trains and abandoned buildings with more racing. Racing however to some of us, it is sorta more necessary than breathing. The rolling starts to our races are always a rush and getting sorted out by turn one are always interesting. This one was no exception, while I thought I got off ok, the middle seemed like it was gonna get dicey. Did let one guy around later in the lap who was crazier than I for self preservation, his is on my list of people to keep a wary eye on. My GoPro was a Christmas present from my girls and it is working out just great..

It's fresh new year and I looking back on all that 2010 brought and excited to see what 2011 brings. I'll be doing a 52 week project with a 'things I love' theme. I'm hoping I can build on all the things I learned this past year.

Wishing you all the best in 2011!

June 2013

June 18-It's June, so how about something that starts with the letter J?

It is Tuesday, you all know what that means? It is Mexican food night. So what better than going down to my local bodega and picked up some fresh JALAPENO peppers, along with a couple of Habanero peppers and some sweet red and orange peppers. I will slice some for my chicken farritos (a cross of a burrito and Fajita), fry some for crunchy pleasures and use the blender to make some of my own pico de gallo with them and the other peppers. Then I have some of my favorite JELLY, pepper jelly. So yummy on crackers and tortillas. Bring on the TUMS later.

So, decided that I'm OK not being all the girl I'd like to be, put a little make up on and feeling a little more 'enjoy the sun while it shines'

Sportunfall in Perlenau.

I've been seeing so many pretty images of buds on trees around flickr so I had to try my own. I've never been able to do a successful one as far as composition and bokeh UNTIL this! I'm thrilled with it!! woohoo!!! Isn't it great when you finally get something right you've been wanting to create for a while? What a great way to start my day today. :)

BTW, I love the feeling of a fresh start that spring brings us, don't you? If nature gets a fresh start each year, then I think we can all have one too. :)

I'm amazed at the tiny seedlings popping up in my indoor gardening area - so fun to start from seed.

Aluna has been nursing this little bird back to health after he flew into the window. Tonight she dances for the moon, and her dance will start with the little bird's return to freedom...

Quick post processing in Aviary.

This was my third sketch drawn during the Art of Listening session on Wednesday. I decided I would start with the watercolours; I was intrigued by the multi-coloured octopus draped over the back of these two chairs. At the end I decided some line work needed to be added. Perhaps I was wrong?

During the recent very hot weather we have been starting work at 7am so I don't usually see these shadows of the lime trees.

Started the same year ‘Oliver Twist’ was published, No. 3 slip stands at the cusp of technological change: it was the last on site to be built over an earth dock ( the sides probably held back by temporary retaining structure )— the slightly wonky and skewed plan with a curved end has a real handmade feel to it. The use of cast or wrought iron had become feasible in buildings by 1938, but no. 3 remains a timber linked truss structure. The roof was first covered in tarred paper, soon replaced with standing seam zinc— perforated by a pattern of glazed rooflights. The river end of the structure was covered in sail cloth and rigging, unfurled when the ship was to be launched.

the street arts festival in worcester on sunday (9/25/16) featured demonstrations of fencing and dancing and martial arts and acrobatic tumblers, among others. here the fencers look like they are using lightsabers ~grin~

This was the first model of the Pouva Start, manufactured beginning 1951. I love the viewfinder on this model. Imagine a TTV contraption for it!
