After a 1.45am rise followed by a 90 minute trip to the Dales and then a 45 minute hike up-hill to get to a vantage point I had scouted but never visited, I was rewarded with some lovely light to grace the lovely scene.

A location I will definitely be revisiting again soon when the sun rises at its most northerly ... and also a few times later in the year too.

The 9-1-1 was recently in Altoona to have it's paint touched up.

I love these Kona solid colours, just so in your face happy...a new quilt on the drawing board and these fit the bill beautifully.

I don't usually put any of my grandchildren's photo's on social media., However this was a very special moment. " for me"

We may have another keen photographer in the family. To say I am thrilled with his enthusiasm, is an understatement.

I rarely post identifiable "people" photos, for privacy reasons, but because this young girl is probably a young woman now, due to the fact the image is almost 15 years old, I did because I thought it was very cute.

I am a longtime Communications Professional specializing in photography and videography.

Located in the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) region, I shoot real estate, events, fashion, events, news and sports. I have produced many TV commercials and corporate videos, and have a rather long credit list of local (to Southern Maryland) TV shows I have developed, hosted, shot, directed, edited and produced.

I'm interested in hearing from and interacting with serious hobby photographers and professional photogs and videographers, as well as hearing from anyone who wishes to discuss a photo or video project.

I grew up being taught that only American cars were cool and that Japanese and European stuff was lame. As I grow up I am slowly starting to realize that is a really sad way to go about cars...and life. This Suby is dope and I like that I can appreciate it now.

A visit to Start point lighthouse for a sunset shot that didn't materialise like I had hoped. There was plenty of movement in the clouds to grab a long exposure with a 10 stop filter.

The new year starts in Brussels with gigantic fireworks behind the Atomium.

Taken on January 1st 2019 at 00:01 from the 34th floor of the Brusilia Residence in Schaerbeek (Brussels), 4.3 km away (nearly 3 miles).

All my best wishes for 2019!

The Atomium was designed by André Waterkeyn and built for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair.

It stands 102 meters (335 ft) tall.

It has nine steel spheres connected so that the whole forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times.

So I'm returning from a 4 year break from photography to find that so much has changed not just in camera hardware but in the whole process of making a image. I fell like I have so much to learn again and its pretty exciting just trying to soak up all the information and enjoy the experience that comes with making photos.

The above image was taken with my new Nikon D750. After just two days of owning it and still being very new to Nikon cameras (I've used Canon digital bodies since 2004) that evening was just an effort to get out and learn some of the cameras features rather than any serious effort to make a nice image. Although this image isn't the usual thing I'd go for (I prefer black and white) I'm actually quite happy with the result but best of all I thoroughly enjoyed just being out with a camera and enjoying the peace and quiet that comes with landscape photography!

Showy milkweed is a member of the Milkweed Family (Asclepidaceae).

Monarch butterflies lay their eggs on the undersides of showy milkweed and some other milkweed plants. The larvae consume the foliage, which is toxic, to make themselves and the adult butterfly stage less palatable to predators. Viceroy butterflies, in turn, have a very similar appearance to the Monarch butterfly. The Viceroy relies upon this mimicry to protect itself from predators that mistake these butterflies for the unpleasant-tasting Monarchs.

This morning my alarm was set for 03:45 and I headed out, very groggily, for the hour drive to Start Point Lighthouse on the Devon Coast.

This is one of my favourite locations, the rocks that lead to the lighthouse along the top here are fantastic and the views are just beautiful, with Hallsands and Beesands to the East and East Prawle to the west.

I met up with Darren Blight Photography in the car park just after 5am and we took the walk down the path to our location.

After all the cloud yesterday I was hoping there would be some hanging around this morning, but we were greeted with a clear sky, and although this doesn't usually make for a great photo the haze across the horizon gave the shot a little bit of interest.

Still, it was a lovely morning to be out, and the perfect way to start the day

Start Point is a promontory in the South Hams district in Devon, England, grid reference SX832370. Close to the most southerly point in the county, it marks the southern limit of Start Bay, which extends northwards to the estuary of the River Dart.

The rocks of the point are greenschist and mica-schist, formed by metamorphism of Devonian sediments during a period of mountain building towards the end of the Carboniferous period.

The name "Start" derives from an Anglo-Saxon word steort, meaning a tail. This root also appears in the names of birds with distinctive tails, like the redstart.

As a result of the many shipwrecks in the area, Start Point lighthouse was built in 1836 to alert ships to the danger of the point and its surrounding rocks. The lighthouse, and the area's birdlife, make it a popular spot for visitors, and Start Point is accessible to walkers from the South West Coast Path.

The Start Point transmitting station is located on top of the promontory, just north-west of the lighthouse. Built in 1939, it nowadays transmits only a single broadcast, BBC Radio 5 Live.

Lamacraft Farm is near Start Point and a quarter of a mile from South Hallsands.
