De Erfurter Bahnservice startte in 2018 in opdracht van het bedrijf Kali und Salz het vervoer van kaliloog tussen de zoutmijnen bij Heimboldshausen en Sehnde (bij Hildesheim). Het vervoer reed toendertijd twee keer per dag, waarbij tussen Sehnde en Gerstungen met klassieke elektrische locomotieven werd gereden. Op de Werratalbahn werden diesellocomotieven ingezet.
In 2020 werd de productie van kaliloog aanzienlijk verhoogd waardoor er veel meer treinen zijn gaan rijden. De oude ketelwagens zijn ingewisseld voor grijze Innofreight ketelwagens op rode wagens type Sggrrs. Ook de tractieleverancier is sindsdien gewijzigd: de vevoerders HLG, Infraleuna, HVLE en Nes/VTG pendelen nu bijna dagelijks op en neer.
Er lopen momenteel twee vervoersstromen kaliloog: HVLE rijdt tussen Heringen (Werra) en het bij Hildesheim gelegen Sehnde, de overige vervoerders pendelen tussen Heimboldshausen en het bij Wunstorf gelegen Bokeloh. HVLE is overigens de enige vervoerder die met Eurodual op de Werratalbahn doorrijdt, de overige wisselen van loc in Gerstungen.
Niets zo veranderlijk als het kaliloogvervoer, want op het moment van schrijven rijdt HVLE tijdelijk óók naar Bokeloh waardoor de dienstregeling ook flink gewijzigd is. Dit plaatje in Dehnsen van de lege kaliloogtrein uit Sehnde naar Heringen is momenteel niet mogelijk: de trein rijdt nu pas rond een uur of 10 door het Leinetal naar het noorden en ook de loc is gewisseld, in plaats van de 159 001 wordt nu de 159 246 ingezet.
Jet lagged, I woke up early, and started an hike before sunrise up the mountain from my hometown Schuders, located in the Swiss Alps near the Austrian border. I reached the top of the mountain ridge shortly after sunrise.
I processed a realistic, a photographic, and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

With the temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, 66743 pulls forward from the loaders with the 6S45 0908 North Blyth to Fort William loaded aluminia. In the summer months this locomotive is usually allocated to Royal Scotsman duties but during the winter rather less glamorous, but much more interesting, work is undertaken.

I don't think they could shorten the stirrups much more for this little girl. She got an early start in barrel racing and did really well. This is the 4th of July youth rodeo in Paris, Idaho
Went out to catch some yellow/brownish trees, but it seems that autumn hasn't really started, it's a bit shy. Trees are still mostly green so... here's a mushroom :)

It was a treat to watch a pair of Avocets wading about in a field in Saskatchewan. We don’t see these birds in our area. I shall catch up with all of you soon again.

We pull up in our car alongside a train parked up, locomotives switched off. We came here last night, a train was sat here also, switched off. The crew were nervous of our presence with and our cameras and told us it had broken down. One of them leaned out of the engine room with a spanner and confirmed this. Again there are people inside, we are a little cautious but take pictures. The driver leans out of his window and shouts to us, we go over, and though he has no German or English he soon knows where we have travelled from. He signals us to wait. Shortly he leans out of the cab window again, pointing his phone down to us. It speaks through a translate app 'We will start the locomotive and you will make a video with your cameras' He waits for us to take our positions and then each unit is restated with plumes of smoke. A bus arrives and three get down out of the cab, its a crew change. The relieved crew are gone and the train restarts, uphill for a kilometre or so on the last leg up to the Bogatyr' mine.

So, generally I'm not a fan of cropping images to a non-standard sized format. I don't know why, they're digital images and can be any size they want to be since I rarely get them printed out, but still I hesitate and dislike it.
But today's image is one of those that I couldn't resist the crop for. This is how I would have shot it, if I had more than my 40mm with me or the ability to hover. (still working on that)
Since this is how I would have shot it if it were possible, I don't feel terrible about the crop, but still it bugs me. Weird, isn't it?
Anyway, even with the crop I like this shot. Especially knowing it was done very early in the morning without a tripod!

Since fruit was allowed, I went with the tart fruit encased seed that fuels our economy. I give you the simple: coffee bean.
On the right is the actual coffee bean fruit on top of a coffee bush leaf (I have my own coffee plants that I grow and they happen to be currently ripe). Inside that red ripe coffee cherry, are seeds that are to become coffee beans.
The coffee beans first need to be fermented, washed, dried, and eventually roasted.

Restoration of 106 year old Leeds & Liverpool Canal wide boat George at Baltic Wharf Boatyard on the River Dart in Totnes.
Once restored she will return to the Leeds & Liverpool to travel between Liverpool and Leigh on events and school visits between May and October, and overwinter at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port.
