A new day is beginning.

A Gatekeeper butterfly sips nectar from a Tansy flowerhead.

The warm temps and rain have fooled the Spring flowers into blooming...Tonight Winter sets in here and will likely kill or ruin most of them...I decided to just catch a fleeting moment while it was here...

Fishermen have their boats ready and head out to sea in the hope of catching a bountiful catch.

used a 3 stops NiSi soft GND filter and stopped down a lot for the sunburst effect.

Thanks everyone for visiting my stream :-)

This is the same bufflehead I shot last week at Commonwealth Lake on takeoff. This was just before the other shot.

The Gäuboden is a region in Lower Bavaria in southern Germany without any clear geographic or cultural boundaries, that covers an area about 15 kilometres wide south of the River Danube and the Bavarian Forest, beginning opposite Wörth an der Donau and stretching as far as Künzing. The largest town in the region is Straubing, which is often called the centre of the Gäuboden. The Gäuboden is one of the largest loess regions in southern Germany. The farmland is nearly flat, no field borders or trees that might hinder the usage of huge machines.

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FAVES

ON THE REACTIONS I WILL TRY TO RESPOND BACK

Pioenroos (Paeonia)

De (nog niet bloeiende) knoppen van pioenrozen scheiden een sap uit dat rijk is aan koolhydraten. Vaak komen hier mieren op af die zich voeden met deze substantie. De mieren zijn echter niet schadelijk voor de planten.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peony (Paeonia)

The (not yet blooming) buds of peonies secrete a juice that is rich in carbohydrates. Ants often feed on this substance. However, the ants are not harmful to the plants.

A young inflorescence (flower spike) of the swamp Banksia, Banksia robur. It is less than 2cm tall surrounded by brown hairy bracts. When mature, the flower spikes may be up to 15cm tall.

The inflorescence consists of hundreds of small flowers arranged in pairs. The flowers change colour as they grow. A photo of an inflorescence in which the flowers are open is below.

As their name suggests they grow in swamps in the wild along the eastern Australian coast but they do well in gardens too.

Thank you for your visit. I appreciate faves and comments very much and I am grateful for invitations too.

This is spring starting up. The first tender greens on the bushes and the tall tree is beginning to bloom.

One of my favourite bike paths, taken last year. We are not quite there yet.

HFF!

Started off as the back of a metal bench with holes. Many different tries.

Nothing like water rushing down a stream with some changing colours to begin ushering in the fall season! Smokey Hallow Waterdown Ontario

Where it all started, or where you can find out how it started.

There are stories that should not be forgotten... Well, perhaps we should never forget. From memories, from the past and from our history we learn. Today I begin to record the result of my investigations. A task that has taken me a year, a long year of wandering between the shelves of the Carnelian Archive, where all the Fairlands chronicles are kept. The dust, the smell of leather, paper and history have been my faithful companions in this search, which is now over. It was something personal, yes. It has already been lost in time and in the silence of my relatives over the years, but I needed to know the truth. And the truth, like a polished diamond with countless faces, is not as simple as they imagined. There is no good or bad, but a mixture of the two whose balance maintains the Universe. Anyway, this is not the time to ramble. I think I should pick up the scattered fragments, hinted at in these flickr posts, and tell the whole story, though maybe not the whole truth, who knows....

Taken at The Headland, Hartlepool, Cleveland on 14/02/2016.

This was yesterday's sunrise (one aspect of it!) as a reverse follow up to yesterday's sunset which I uploaded yesterday. As the pink sunlight shines on the island a dark band of snow clouds drops its load!

I've started working my way through my contacts pictures now and hope I will soon catch up with all of you! It may take an hour or two!

Have a great Wednesday!

Have a nice day :-)

Graureiher mit fettem Brocken

Sunset ends and the mix of city light on the clouds and blue hour takes over the river.

Die ersten Vorboten zeigen sich schon. Kein Frost mehr. Die Saison läuft an.

The spring season has started.

Single shot of a Maltese style shell 8 inch (possibly 10 inch) comprising of three rows of flash reports. (beraq in local terminology) red flash row, green flash row and a gold burst row. 5/2 sec exposure.

I love a good trail. I love it when it pays off with some wonderful scenery or just opens your mind to the world around you.

Mitt bidrag till veckans fotosöndag, tema start

I have never seen the lake freeze completely over in one night, but record cold temps of -4F/-20C last night did the job. There was no ice at all when I went to bed. I don't expect it to last, however, as a bright sun even now looks to be working on it and the forecast actually calls for a few days in the 40sF/4-5C ahead...as mentioned previously, a range we have yet to see at all this year.
