This is the same bufflehead I shot last week at Commonwealth Lake on takeoff. This was just before the other shot.
The Gäuboden is a region in Lower Bavaria in southern Germany without any clear geographic or cultural boundaries, that covers an area about 15 kilometres wide south of the River Danube and the Bavarian Forest, beginning opposite Wörth an der Donau and stretching as far as Künzing. The largest town in the region is Straubing, which is often called the centre of the Gäuboden. The Gäuboden is one of the largest loess regions in southern Germany. The farmland is nearly flat, no field borders or trees that might hinder the usage of huge machines.

Pioenroos (Paeonia)
De (nog niet bloeiende) knoppen van pioenrozen scheiden een sap uit dat rijk is aan koolhydraten. Vaak komen hier mieren op af die zich voeden met deze substantie. De mieren zijn echter niet schadelijk voor de planten.

Peony (Paeonia)
The (not yet blooming) buds of peonies secrete a juice that is rich in carbohydrates. Ants often feed on this substance. However, the ants are not harmful to the plants.
I started out with film photography many years ago. But, in spite of seeing so many awesome film images here on Flickr, I love the versatility of digital. I also love collecting old cameras.
This is spring starting up. The first tender greens on the bushes and the tall tree is beginning to bloom.
One of my favourite bike paths, taken last year. We are not quite there yet.

Wanted a Sunrise, but poor planing meant I didn't get here till gone 10am, it was one of those days when everything went against me.

Where it all started, or where you can find out how it started.
There are stories that should not be forgotten... Well, perhaps we should never forget. From memories, from the past and from our history we learn. Today I begin to record the result of my investigations. A task that has taken me a year, a long year of wandering between the shelves of the Carnelian Archive, where all the Fairlands chronicles are kept. The dust, the smell of leather, paper and history have been my faithful companions in this search, which is now over. It was something personal, yes. It has already been lost in time and in the silence of my relatives over the years, but I needed to know the truth. And the truth, like a polished diamond with countless faces, is not as simple as they imagined. There is no good or bad, but a mixture of the two whose balance maintains the Universe. Anyway, this is not the time to ramble. I think I should pick up the scattered fragments, hinted at in these flickr posts, and tell the whole story, though maybe not the whole truth, who knows....
Autumn also brings a lot of changes to the birds, and very noticeable is the one on the finches that completely lose their bright yellow plumage to a mix of very dull green-yellowish that makes us to take a second look.
Right now here in PA the rain has started and many trees have lost their leaves, but they still have a unique charm specially at the end of a sunny day. The wind has move from place to place tons of leaves that are forming colorful skirts which now makes it difficult to know from which tree were originally from.
This image had only a white background so I decided to merge a second one with autumn leaves.

Photography is one of my passions, and nature photography is my favorite.

This was yesterday's sunrise (one aspect of it!) as a reverse follow up to yesterday's sunset which I uploaded yesterday. As the pink sunlight shines on the island a dark band of snow clouds drops its load!
I've started working my way through my contacts pictures now and hope I will soon catch up with all of you! It may take an hour or two!
