Picture #1 from a series of shots I took during a poker tournament here in Ottawa, where I was looking for fun & interesting shots of the chips & hands.
It was my first night of really using my new DSLR camera (having made the switch from a point & shoot :) Unfortunately I knew very little of all the settings, so I had to do a bunch of learning in Lightroom to adjust the light & tone settings!! :D

A nice M-2 brings up the rear of a stack lead by a goosey horned GEVO that Dan and I missed but didn't get to sad about as we laughed about the horn.
A test using Helicon Focus using the default DMap settings with 17 shots @ f8 just to keep the entire lens in focus. Compared to single shot @ f32.
One might think that the focus stacking doesn't present much of an advantage. If you look closely, the single shot suffers from CA (see the detail of the "Z 40mm 1:2..." text) due to the effects of diffraction. Make no mistake, the 105Z is a fabulous lens but it cannot escape physics.

Tried stacking multiple exposures. I thought that I would use a ND filter and iso 100 to get a nice slow exposure, then remove the filter and up the iso to get a faster shutter for the boys(as opposed to changing aperture which would change the depth of field). Well its almost impossible to make the grain from the separate isos to blend when stacking. Oh well. Any constructive criticism is welcome!!!
And to add to it all I'm on Linux now and loving it, but I haven't found a good HDR or Panoramic program yet so the finished pic is just editing in a raw program.. no tone mapping :(
The finished pic..

Oktoberfest at Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, PA. What a great afternoon-the awesome Stacks setting, lots of wurst and beer, wiener dog races, funky scarecrows, and best of all-we all got to try out an alpine horn (and think about the old Ricola commercials). To my delight I managed to blow for 22 seconds and got a certificate.
An unknown artist used the river as his medium when he created this interesting rock stacking display.
