Gray Squirrels

A fearless Red squirrel feeding a few feet from me. This time of year they get so preoccupied with eating that they seem totally oblivious to hikers like me.

Day 3 of our week at Center Parcs.

What an amazing day, the sun was out and shining and Nanny and Gramps came for a visit.

We had a bit of a swim, a huge amount of riding, so playing at the park, off road biking. Gramps did a stunt on his the scooter that he can now tick off his list of 50 things to do before... We ate great food, but most of all we giggled and smiled and had fun.

What an amazing day, can't wait for more tomorrow.

We spent today catching up on some much needed springtime garden maintenance, but I couldn't help taking a few minutes out to shoot some of the sights.

This little squirrel wasn't at all bothered that we were banging around in the garden and made the most of the free supply of food from our feeder.

This was the last I saw of him! his final pose, well worth the visit to a disused cemetery.

We left some bird seed on the deck. This guy doesn't mind balancing on the railing to get its share.

DSC_0300

I just got a new camera. Haven't had time yet to tweak the controls to my personal liking.

This was taken from about 20 feet away on a very (brrr) cold, cloudy day, hand held (shakily) at full maximum focal length (432 mm). Think large aperture + slow shutter speed kind of day. So NOT my favorite combination!

This is straight from the camera -- not cropped.

Not being known for having the steadiest hands, I was pretty darned impressed! You can actually identify that the object in the tree is a squirrel! And I like the texture in the bark.

So . . . I think I'll keep the camera. :-)

You can see him (the squirrel) better if you have time to view it in 'large'. (He's pretty well camouflaged!)

i love the horizon in its eye =]

Squirrels belong to family Sciuridae of small or medium-size rodents.

Feeding the Squirrel at the park. Taken with a Canon EF 300mm f4 IS L Lens.

Showed up at the front door at work. I think he fell out of a nest over the front lawn.I also think his/her mom chewed wires in my outdoor lighting and got zapped...cost us $700.00 to repair.
