Christmas at Waddesdon Manor

Sprouting male (A60) surfacing near Cracroft Point, Johnstone Strait, B.C.

Must get round to filling in a bit more. Too late for this one now, of course. Bloody thing's washed away.

Asbury Park New Jersey because of its proximity to New York City, prior to the building of the Garden State Parkway was an extremely popular ‘Jersey’ shore destination for the well off. This led to many businesses sprouting up on the main avenue, among them automobile dealers. I found this old building that had been a Studebaker Dealership just off of Main St at 807 Summerfield Avenue by railroad tracks in the downtown area. It was built in the 1921 by Louis F. Lipsey, the local Studebaker agent who commissioned the building of a 7,500 square foot showroom and assembly plant for $175,000. The building was all angular lines with a crown just below the roof of hieroglyphic designs. Lipsey’s dealer finished either second or third in countrywide sales of new Studebaker for eight years until the stock market crash in 1929. Louis Lipsey who had a staff of ten salesmen and fifteen mechanics went bankrupt. Joseph F. Stein stepped in and acquired the remains of the Studebaker dealership, but moved it across Main Street making it a Cadillac-Studebaker dealer, the building also is still around.

The distinct Studebaker ‘turning wheel’ sign that adorned the Studebaker automobiles from 1912 through 1934 appeared on the outside of the building in this image over the doorway that must have been an entrance to the dealership showroom.

The Studebaker Automobile company which actually dated back to 1897, closed its last American auto plant in South Bend Indiana the year I was born, 1963 and completed shuttered its remaining plant in Hamilton Canada in 1966 rolling off the last Studebaker Cruiser that year. The Studebaker was a company rich in history, President Harrison in 1889 having ordered Studebaker Carriages & harnesses for the White House, the famous Studebaker Wagons drawn by Budweiser Clydesdales (even today), the supplier of military wagons used by the British during WW1 and during WW2 the US6 6X6 all terrain vehicle, the M29 ‘Weasel’ all terrain vehicle and engines for the B-17 Flying Fortress. This is amongst many vestiges of prosperous times gone past that can be found in this old New Jersey beach resort town which is fighting its way back from bad times.

...so I started some sprouts, I'm thinking an Orla Kiely style stem of scrappy sprouts on a scrappy low volume background. What do you think dear partner, should I keep going with sprouts or tulips? Made with 3" drunkards path templates and a thin strip at the top/bottom.

My big girl finally has a big girl quilt. Inspired by this. Ginko is standard issue on all quilts in our house.

Blogged here.

An easier version of my sprout.

From a single 2x1 rectangle of handmade doble color ricepaper.

Variation inspired by Cyrille , which in turn is inspired by snowblue and me! This is an inceptioninspiration!

If you can zoom in on the stem... there's lots of fun detail in the "fur". This was at Brooklyn Botanic Gardens this past weekend.

A lot of fun to fold !! If you want to give it a try, it's here www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGn1FGzkWBM

Many Thanks for sharing Riccardo :))

Sprouting salad growing in my new greenhouse hot bed.

Rocket, beetroot, red clover, fenugreek, lettuce, cress.

Very pleased with this new bed which is heated, with grow lights, and all powered by solar.

Looking good so far 😊

A lovely vintage 🎤 is sprouting up amongst the mixing board during a recording session at Blue Light Studio in Vancouver.

IMG_9192: I started seeds indoors about two weeks ago, mostly flowers. I'll start the veggies maybe this weekend. Everything is just starting to sprout, which is always so fun for me.

Brussels sprouts, chunks of smoky pork bacon and perfectly sautéed shallots. It's a satisfying, deep and complex flavor with a perfect balance of crunch and butter. Mixed perfectly with sautéed shallots and crispy bacon.

I was driving up the county road to Costco last week and noticed two field already with sunflower sprouts. Can't believe they're coming in this early.

WEEK 11 – S Perkins Sprouts, Set I

One last exterior look – a close-up of the logo above the main entrance – before we head inside. In addition to all the changes they made to the front exterior wall here, Sprouts also added that brand-new gabled skylight to the roof up top. It lets tons of natural light down into the vestibule below, and also adds some visual interest to the storefront. I dig it.

We’ll be heading in through the main entrance here, which is exactly where Seessel’s/Schnucks/Kroger left it, if I’m not mistaken… but note also, if you flip back a few pics, that Sprouts did add a second access point to this building, located just a few yards to the right of this one. I believe that one is meant to serve primarily as the exit, but I don’t think customers are totally prohibited from entering through those doors, either. Not sure why they felt two sets of doors were needed on such a small building, but hey :P

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
