I was challenging myself to get a decent photo from some brussel sprouts today. I think this one is alright.
Enemy of the people or just good for you?
The Brussels sprout is a member of the cabbages family.
These are being sold on the stalk, not usually how we see them in the shops.

Spot illustrations for my digital illustration class. Inspired by a beautiful sprouting sweet potato in my kitchen!
Note: Flickr makes the color seem a lot brighter and more saturated than it actually is... They aren't that neon in real life!!
With all the new arrivals to the house Sprout demanded a new toy.......so I went and bought her a Quad Bike.....heaven help us all....stay off the roads one and all that's all I can say!!!...LOL
Guess who gets excited about Brussels sprouts? Personally, I was pretty keyed up too. Being a city boy, I had no idea they came like this. I thought you dug 'em up like turnips or something..
@ Trick or Treat Lane ~ October 7 - 31
I made this cute pumpkin stem sprout as a hunt gift over at Trick or Treat Lane. It plops on top of the new hat I made OR can be used by itself any kind of way~
The event just opened up, so have a look around my booth to find it!

These are not your grandma's Brussels Sprouts that have been boiled to death.
I bought a fresh stalk of sprouts at a farmer's market last week...yes, that's right, they grow on stalks...and snap a few off when making dinner. I slice them in half and steam them for 10 minutes along with garlic and spices ( I have found that steak seasoning works well). They're good to eat at that point BUT then I put them of a cookie sheet, drizzle them with olive oil, hit them with some paprika, minced onion and garlic and roast them in the oven for ten minutes. Delicious :)
If you hate Brussels sprouts prepare them correctly and you won't.
