the better to see and be seen says Scarlett. Banded with her little sprouts up she doesn't miss a thing
Scarlett trivia: her ear fringe is banded to keep it dry and out of her food and water bowl. This week she's 28 weeks old, 22-1/4" tall
Since it's still cold and snowy outside, I had to search for some Spring color indoors... I think I found it with these little sprouts on the windowsill.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!!

I often go boating with my son, Sean, as well as my husband, Gerry. Sean loves to find coconuts in the water and has planted 6 of them in my garden. The one in this picture is the only one that has sprouted which is very exciting. So we are hoping it grows into a fully fledged coconut tree! I love coconuts!!!
In Winter, Wisconsin (an hour or so south of Duluth, Minnesota), spring arrives a bit later than in East Central Wisconsin, where I live. But what a fantastic nursery Winter has (You wouldn't think so in a place called Winter, would you?). I visited my late brother-in-law's wife in May in that area, and we drove to Winter especially to visit the nursery and for Rosie to buy plants for a memorial garden she wanted to create for her late husband.
I took plenty of photos, of course, while she searched for her plants. The photo above is just one of them (I've used other photos in other submissions).
There's something about vegetation, foliage, that also attracts. Flowers, which we all adore, get most of our attention, and perhaps deservedly so. But foliage and vegetation have their rewards, too. And as the poet says, they are not only for me or you, but for him and her as well. Same goes for the planet: it's for everybody.
(All is a procession,
The universe is a procession with measured and perfect motion.)
Do you know so much yourself that you call the meanest ignorant?
Do you suppose you have a right to a good sight, and he or she has no right to a sight?
Do you think matter has cohered together from its diffuse float, and the soil is on the surface, and water runs and vegetation sprouts,
For you only, and not for him and her?

Cut off the butt ends of romaine lettuce and sweet onions, stuck them in some water.... et voila! I've had really good luck growing and harvesting the onions in outdoor pots. But the lettuce has been a bit too ornery.

Small Group Weekly Challenge: Food
Who doesn't love food? As a kid, I hated brussel sprouts. Now, I can't seem to get enough. My fave is roasted sprouts with olive oil, garlic, salt and a little squeeze o' lemon. Cheers!
There is downtown LA--sprouting like a growth, spreading like a weed on the surface of this valley. At least it was a surprisingly clear day, not too much smog to try to see through.
I planted some old pepper seeds in an egg carton a couple weeks back and closed it back up. Sometimes they germinate and sometimes they do not. So I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the carton and found these tiny sprouts springing to life and eager to leave the darkness of that egg carton and greet the abundant sunshine that warmed the day.
In a week or two they will shoot up and be too big to keep in the egg carton. Then they will get larger containers and spend more time on my sunny kitchen windowsill until it's time to get into this year's garden.
