Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble - 7th January 2018

Rather than the usual flowing wings, this car was ordered with cycle wings for use in motor sport. The original owner was Lady Mary Grosvenor (youngest daughter of the 2nd Duke of Westminster), a keen amateur racing and rally driver, and campaigned by her (rallying, racing, hillclimbing & trialling) until the early 1950s.

I made theses a while ago in photoshop with a pixel bursh. The first one is just a super hero, then a snake with a human face, then a tombstone with feet, then a tv crab some thing i made up.

For my Dad for Father's Day!!!!

A passing Sprite, caught by moonlight.

----------------------------------------------------

Have to admit this shot went quite wrong.

T’was the my intention to shoot a fine silhouette of the tree by the stream against the full moon.

However having successfully placed the camera on the tripod, I can only say it obviously went down hill from there without my knowing or logical thinking.

On framing the shot the camera wouldn’t auto focus either on the tree or the sharp interaction points between the water and rocks. That was Plan 'A' rapidly coming to a sudden stop.

So Plan ‘B‘ manual focus through the view finder, hmmm difficult in the half light.

Then a flash of inspiration, Plan ‘C’, guestimate the distance to the tree and set the distance scale on the lens and a suitable aperture to cover the DoF.

Fantastic, except lens little Nikkor 35mm f1.8 lens has no distance scale...... revert to Plan ‘B’.

In trying to focus through the lens I really struggled to see the tree and in truth went for the completely for the wrong end of the lens, subsequently finding that I set the distance to about 18 inches in front of the camera.

To cap it all I end up with flare.

Flare! I ask you, from Moonlight ?

However I find this little flare quite cute, gradually referring to it as a sprite,

So a little editing in Aperture was called for and tittle comes to mind.

Desaturate to B+W to take out the slight green hue of the grass behind the tree, a little tweak of contrast and then brush out the saturation to introduce the colour back into the flare or sprite, and the fun image is born.

So there you go, a happy accident creates a fun image.

Hope you all enjoy this and wishing your all a very Happy and Productive New Year for 2012

Green is money. Sprite needs money.

Montreal logo. Sprite from NHL '98.

These pictures have been in my collection for so many years that I can't remember where I got them from. I also have no idea when they were taken.

The sports car nearest the camera is a Riley, but I don't know which model (possibly a special -- anyone know more about it than I do?). The other one is an Austin Healey Sprite

The Riley registration originates from Buckinghamshire sometime around 1951., The Sprite number originates from Surrey sometime around 1960.

I actually made this one ages ago, just never got round to editing and uploading; as such, this is a slightly cheaty Novvember entry (sorry). In my lessons at uni I've learnt how to fiddle around with light and colour levels in Photoshop so hopefully my uploads will look better than before!

Everything is done at this point except for half of Mario's face. The skin-colored pins needed to be spray-painted, and only one batch had been done.
