This sprite occurred over a rather ordinary complex of thunderstorms just east of McCook, Nebraska (as recorded from Cheyenne, WY). I was able to see the lightning flashes from these thunderstorms but not the actual sprite itself. However, in this image, no obvious lightning could be seen that induced this sprite. Twilight was still apparent more than 75 minutes after sunset over the east.
This type of sprite is often referred to as a "carrot top" sprite for obvious reasons.

DESCRIPTION
The Shine Sprites are the source of life on Isle Delfino in Super Mario Sunshine. They gather by the Shine Gate and will scatter from it if provoked. They serve the same purpose as the Power Stars in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy.
Shine Sprites are also the focus of various mini games in the Mario Kart games, namely Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS.
The game, based somewhat on Capture the Flag, has characters attempting to hold onto a Shine Sprite until the timer is expired. Being struck with any of the game's weaponry, including Koopa Shells, Banana Peels, and the like will cause the character to forfeit their hold on the Shine Sprite, allowing another character to pick it up. In the DS version there are nine sprites, with a timer resetting every 30 seconds or so. Whoever has or is tied for the least sprites is then eliminated. In Double Dash!! there is only one sprite and whoever holds it when time runs out wins.
Shine Sprites were also featured on a few billboards in the races.

Diet Sprite to me has always tasted horrible. It's up there with the worst diet sodas of all time. And for the record, Diet Sprite and Spite Zero is the exact.same.drink.
I figured "what the heck, I haven't had Diet Sprite since I was 11 so I'll try it again since these little bottles are only 50¢ each". It's still bad.
No, I didn't mix the rest up with some Disaronno. I was just trying to find some minatures to group the picture around. (small moleskine, small pilot G2 pen).
Reshiram and Zekrom made from perler and hama beads.
Original sprites taken from game. The design was done by pickelpockets as an art trade.
Made using 11,902 beads
A bead sprite of Julia Chang from Tekken 5. This was made from a custom sprite made by me, based on official artwork for the game.

A variation on a setup I use often, but with a few tweaks to cater for the material of the bottle, which being plastic, acts in a different way to glass.
This setup shot is taken from a slightly lower angle as will be obvious from the black background behind the bottle.
There are 3 x 20W CFL lamps used in this setup, all fitted into Pringles tube reflectors to enhance and direct the light.
The first is located behind the black card and is illuminating the white background, approx 6inches/150mm behind.
The other 2 are in view and located each side. They are placed behind semi opaque polythene box files opened into a V shape to be freestanding. Light is prevented from spilling to the rear by a couple of black cards, which dont really show here.
Also, to soften the light further on the bottle side, sheets of white printer paper are clipped onto the screens.
Guess I had beter also mention the way the bottle is held at an angle, it looked a bit boring stood upright :)
A strip of paper was wrapped around the bottle and the two ends held quite tightly with a sprung clip. This created a sort of tripod, which also allowed the bottle to rotate, to get the most pleasing angle.
One thing not shown here, is that I held a sheet of white card above the bottle to reflect light back onto the top of the cap to bring out the white printing.
Custom bead sprite of Talim from Soul Calibur 2. I used official artwork from the game for reference but I drew every pixel myself, by hand.

One of my sister's cars in a photo taken by her at a Cars & Coffee event in Dana Point, California. I can't quite exactly remember when she acquired this car but it was certainly during the 20th Century.
The engine is a larger displacement one from a later Sprite. It also has front disc brakes.
The license plate has been altered for privacy. Photo taken 2022.

Yesterday my two sprites came back from Rakeru Space / Sensei's Make Up and I still can't believe how detailed their small facepaints are - so amazing!!!! Can't wait to get a fourth elf head to commission her again for the missing two seasons (summer and winter).

Right now I only have eyes for them and they borrow bodies of other (still unpainted) dolls. Really need to finish before I bring any new dolls home. D;
As a side note this is a modified Nanuri Rin elf dreaming head. I opened her eyes and had to put clay in her eyewells due to the very thin resin of her eyelids.

Lately I've been really enjoying the abstract microcosms of Catherine Silks. It jogged a thought to scan this old image dating back to my paleozoic era. Somewhere I'd learned the trick where if you unmount the normal lens from an SLR and hold it against the camera backwards, it works as an impromptu macro lens.
