Plenty of snow on Ben Lomond in the middle of April, but the trees are just starting to show some green. It's a great time of year.

Big and black: View On Black

"Springtime for Egrets" by Patti Deters. A proud Great Egret (Ardea alba) parent guards her little family clutch of three baby chicks as they move about their nest, perhaps waiting for the other parent to bring home some food. Nestled in among bright spring colored green leaves, the nest consists of sticks and twigs and tree small branches. Nests can be formed either in the tops of trees or on the ground. The Great Egret is the largest of the wading birds in the world, and is also sometimes called common egret, white egret, or even white heron. These birds were seen in Fergus Falls, Minnesota at GPS 46°16'34.4644N, 96°3'45.6361W. You can thank a horse named Smoky for the impressionistic texture of the trees and the foreground grass. Normally I take three or four shots of the same thing hoping for one to turn out good. Well, I was riding Smoky, who was very patient for the first three riverbank shots, but decided he'd had enough, took a step, and began turning just as I was clicking the shutter for my fourth attempt. Looks kind of like Orton, huh? But it isn't.

My use of Photoshop was to increase the saturation, equalize the colors, and bring out some texture in the sky.

Photo taken along the New River, on what I think I remember as the North Carolina side of the state line.

Springtime in Maryland. The weathers gods are pissed! This is what happens when a bunch of Texas Cowpies lose the only weatherman who Lives in Town !

Tulips are beautiful as well in the field or, in this case, in a vase:-)

Taken on a walk along the coastal path from West Wittering to Itchenor, before an impromptu coffee with a friend. The best kind of morning :-)

The sights and smells of spring. Valencia oranges on average take fourteen to fifteen months to mature, so this time of year the trees will have both fruit and flowers.

What a great time to be a beginner in photography, "Springtime." The flowers in bloom, longer days and sunsets a blaze. Grab your camera and a couple of lenses and take a walk to enjoy the air and share the captures you come home with...

On this dreary fall day, it is nice to look back into my recent archives and remember springtime in Marysville, Washington.

Updated May 23: A storm blew through on Tuesday leaving a trail of devastation across the state of Iowa. We were fortunate with only rain and high winds. My Irises took a beating, lost some, trampled down a few that I cut and brought inside, closed up a few but opened a few more! I find beauty in all the stages that a flower takes from bud, to flower, back to bud, to dying. Behold life and death in a cycle thru Mother Nature. Some left-over stewing steak worked wonders.

Springtime in Texas explodes with these breathtaking sights; alas its only a brief wonder.

A pretty and minimalistic semi-abstract image to celebrate the onset of glorious Spring.
