A storm blew through leaving a trail of devastation across the state of Iowa. We were fortunate with only rain and high winds. My Irises took a beating, lost some, trampled down a few that I cut and brought inside, closed up a few but opened a few more! I find beauty in all the stages that a flower takes from bud, to flower, back to bud, to dying. Behold life and death in a cycle thru Mother Nature. This lake, north of Kingston, is named after the British Militaty Engineer, Colonel John By, responsible for the creation of the Rideau Canal. In 1832, the canal completed the inland waterway linking Montreal to the Great Lakes, circumventing the St. Lawrence River. Following the War of 1812, the St. Lawrence River, was vulnerable to American control. Canada felt the need to have protected access to Upper Canada which is now known as Ontario.
This morning, here are five observations from yesterday's walk in the park. I walked down the bank of the lake to get a better view of this tree. Luckily, a young man was there fishing. I thought he completed the scene.

Plenty of snow on Ben Lomond in the middle of April, but the trees are just starting to show some green. It's a great time of year.
