Working on a spreadsheet at my workplace.

Diane Brandt, Sioux Falls

This template is prepared for assigning shifts to employees. The calendar of the selected month is created automatically.

2 types of calendars are provided: from Mon to Sun and from Sun to Sat. Also a report on the assigned and unassigned shifts is available on the second sheet. PSW version of the template provides save feature. Hence, a collection of files can be created for each month. These files are editable online.

Thanks goodness for plant labels! There are so many different Rhododendrons in Rowallane and a few of them in flower already. This one seemed popular with the bees today.

A big shrub, most of the flowers (and bees) were high up but I managed to grab some pictures on lower flowers.

Aaaaand...time! It's official. 2 hours 29 minutes is the tolerance limit for a 21 month old at a wedding. I'm making a spreadsheet for science.

100% zoom in view of Spreadsheet of Love for today's ds106 Daily Create:

Use the Pixel Spreadsheet tools from Think Maths to convert a photo or image into an Excel Spreadsheet– it puts a red, green, blue value in a cell, and zoomed out you can see how that forms a photo. Making one is simple. A monkey can do that. How can you transform the image using Excel tools? For the example above, multiple columns were sorted to make it more “glitch” like. How else might you manipulate the numbers to make something different? Or make it change appearance at different zoom levels.

A Photo from Day 8 of a 10 day 9 night "Railway Tour" of 13 Museums and Heritage Railway Locations. The Main Aim was to get as many Steam Train Journeys to add to my Steam Powered Journeys Spreadsheet which is my modern "Trainspotting" record.

When planning this "Rail Tour" I had hoped to go the Great Central Railway (GCR) at Loughborough but a lack of Timetables on their web site and a shortage of anything i viewed as attractive in terms numbers of Steam Locomotives in service on this day (Saturday) prompted a change of plan.

I decided to go to the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway (EBA) in the morning and I can move onto the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) in the afternoon. It is only about 30 minutes by car between the 2 railways.

As I was leaving Embsay Station, It had started Raining when I took this photo of MG Classic Cars which explains the MG headboard on Beatrice.

In the Background, No. 7 "Beatrice" has got the signal and is almost ready to set off on the next round trip .

"Beatrice" No. 7 is a Hunslet Works No. 2705 0-6-0ST loco.

Reviewing the spreadsheet of my finances, trying to figure out where the train jumped the tracks, this time.

Consider Flights a social spreadsheet. You have people and activities. Give your social engagement a purpose and manage it - not just a collection of follower or a blast of your "message". Manage a dialog.

Marlene, with the help of Bruce Enting, has created a killer spreadsheet to help manage this year's Innovation selection process

Thanks to Google Docs and my sick fascination with spreadsheets I've kept tabs on my video game spending habits throughout 2008. Now that the year is over it's time to dive into those stats and see just how things panned out for me. WARNING! EXTREME NERD ALERT!!!!

In 2008 I played a total 41 games. Of those 41, only 30 were 2008 releases. Out of the 41 games total 27 were new copies, while 14 were used and 16 I ended up trading/selling away.

The total price for the 41 games based on Amazon's price at the time I got each game amounts to $1,702.00 but thanks to cheapassgamer.com, Goozex, Gift Cards, gifts & some good old fashioned wheeling & dealing I only ended up spending $227.50 for an overall savings of $1,474.50 (86.63%).

This means the average cost per game for me in 2008 was only $5.55. Subtract that from the average MSRP for the 41 games ($41.51) and I ended up saving an average of $35.96 per game.

I also racked up an extra $28 in savings over the year thanks to coupon redemptions, but this amount is most certainly higher since I didn't do such a good job tracking these over the year.

I waited an average of 101 days after release to pick up my games, though I did buy 17 within a week of their release date. That 101 days figure is skewed way higher due to older games I picked up this year such as Daxter (665 days after release), Tomb Raider: Legend (634 days after release), and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (517 days after release) to name a few.

The most expensive game I bought this year was Little Big Planet for the PS3 which I paid full retail price for with absolutely no savings at all. Not to mention I picked up a PS3 in order to play it.

The only other games I paid full price for were XBLA & PSN games. I need to do a better job in 2009 of picking up discounted point cards to avoid repeating that trend.

My System Breakdown is as follows:

* Xbox 360: 27 (66%)

* PSP: 10 (24%)

* DS: 2 (5%)

* PS3: 2 (5%)

(I also bought one game for my phone, but I never added it to my spreadsheet so oh well. PS - it was Galaga, it was $7 and it sucked)

2008 Retailer Breakdown: (where I got my games from)

* Goozex: 13 (32%)

* Best Buy: 12 (29%)

* XBLM: 6 (15%)

* GameStop: 5 (12%)

* PSN: 2 (5%)

* Circuit City: 1 (2%)

* GoGamer: 1 (2%)

* Amazon: 1 (2%)

I'll be keeping tabs on things once again 2009, collecting additional data as well such as Goozex points redeemed/received, money made from selling games, gift card redemption totals & more. I'll see you all in January 2010 with the results

On the left a section of spreadsheet monitors the fleet list comparing quantities with requirements and with the real LT fleet. The pink, yellow and green columns in the centre show quantities stored in boxes, unlicensed (in works or surplus in garages). The Garage allocation column can show quantities at individual garages and/or unlicensed, staff and training. Next 2 columns produce overhaul targets based on last works visit (2007 shown). Whilst far right 'Specs updated' shows improvements progress for each type.

Yea, I'm rocking out to some spreadsheets, listening to my noise-canceling headphones from Bose, moving the mouse on the world famous mouse rug, and drinking some joe. It's a great life.
