A further tour to Fourvière, Lyon, France for a specific visit of l'Antiquaille on October 20, 2022. I did also a new Kodak Tri-X film with my Zorki-4K camera and its Jupiter-8 1:2 f=50 mm normal lens.

The Zorki was loaded with the Kodak Tri-X (TX) exposed for 400 ISO using a Minolta Autometer III lightmeter fitted with a 10° viewfinder for selective measuring privileging the shadows. After exposure the film was processed at 20°C using Tetenal Ultrafin developer at dilution 1+10 for 9min.

After process the film was digitalized using a Sony A7 body and a Minolta Slide Duplicator with a Minolta Auto Bellows III with a lens Minolta Bellow Macro Rokkor 50mm f/3.5.

After several films, and the range finder adjusted, I found the Zorki-4K very pleasant to use. The camera is clearly very reliable and the film smoothly advanced and rewound. I equipped the lens with a FOCA UV-protection filter (Made in France) and the hood of my Focaflex. All views are presented either framed or full-size.

About the camera :

This camera was manufactured in 1977 by KMZ company ( Красногорский механический завод, Krasnogorskiy Mechanicheskiy Zavod) located in the Moscow region. KMZ also manufactured the ZENIT SLR's among many other productions. Zorki 4K was produced between 1972 to 1978 and the previous Zorki models were inspired by the Leica II since 1949. This model 'Made in USSR" is branded in roman characters, intentionally for exportation. Other Zorki 4K were also branded in Cyrillic as "Зоркий". Zorki 4K was sold basically either with this Jupiter-8 lens 1:2 f=50mm or the Industar lens1:3.5 f=50mm. The Jupiter-8 is a Sonnar Zeiss optical formula and fits to the Zorki body using the screwing M39 Leica mount.

Its was sold to me in August 2022 from Austria with its original ever-ready leather bag, a front lens cap and a small shade hood accessory Minolta D42KA. The shade hood and filter of my Focaflex also fit to the Jupiter lens (Leica standard 42 mm filter)

Photo specific details to come. For more information on student trip to India, visit bit.ly/1ne7Z5q.

It is definately a Prickly Pear Cactus, but the specific species I'm not too sure of right now. I spotted these along side the road on my drive home one day. I thought it was interesting that almost every bloom had at least one small beetle inside it, and many of them had two or three.

The Opuntia (or commonly called Prickly Pear) is a large genus of Cacti composing nearly 360 species. They can be very small plants to plants over 30 meters tall! After doing some research on the web, my best guess is that this cactus is known as Opuntia gilvescens. I located photos and information specific to this species at opuntiads.com. The site is dedicated to the study of Opuntia species in the USA and was created and is managed by Joe J. Shaw and David Ferguson.

My intention here was to capture the chaos in Ocean Park, Santa Monica. With dogs running, soccer playing, kite flying, bike riding, yoga and more I knew this would be a great motion shot. I had a great time waiting with the camera ready to get this shot. I edited this photo by cropping and adjusting shadows and highlights. I have cropped almost every single photo in this series to use the rule of thirds element of photography.

This site-specific installation by pop artist Allen Jones has contrasting viewpoints. Soaring in the sky, the red sculpture’s sweeping tips of hair and silhouette can be appreciated when viewed from above, while from ground level, the experience is more abstract. Made from an aluminium sheet, Head in the Wind’s namesake alludes to an earlier work by Jones, created when he was at Hornsey Art College in 1959. ‘It’s remarkable to see how it’s bookending my career, but it confirms something I’ve always believed: that is within everybody there is a notion of completeness, which is unconsciously operating.’ Fun fact: Jones knew Stanley Kubrick, after the director was keen include one of his works in A Clockwork Orange.

Buongiorno!

This week we detail the specific use of a fairly common tool in metalworking: a thread tap. It is a very handy tool to have in the event of having a dropout adjuster screw break and get stuck inside the dropout, as Quang had experienced over the weekend.

The first step when dealing with a tight dropout adjuster screw is to very carefully try and unwind it from the screwdriver side, i.e. inside the dropout flats. Sometimes used frames will have the dropout adjuster screws bent from damage or rusted hard inside, and as such too much torque can cause the screw head to shear off.

At this point, the only option is to carefully drill out the stuck screw and re-tap new threads into the hole for the dropout to accept a new screw. This requires a very steady hand and for the frame to held securely, most likely with the dropout clamped in the vice.

As for the size of drill bit to use, this corresponds with the desired thread size. Too large of a diameter hole, and the tap will not cut threads deep enough for the screw to securely hold itself in place; conversely too small a hole can cause the tap to be excessively tight during rotation, leading to binding and potential snapping.

For the purposes of dropout adjuster screws, as they are a M3 x 0.5mm thread, a 2.5mm drill bit is used.

The steps to remove a stuck adjuster screw:

• File the screw as flat as possible to the dropout.

• Then by eye, centre punch the screw as best as possible. This will keep the drill bit in place when drilling.

• Use a 2 mm drill bit to drill as straight as possible down the dropout screw.

• The hole is enlarged to 2.5 mm. If it has been drilled perfectly, then most of the old screw should be gone.

• A M3 X 0.5 starting tap is run down the hole to either clean out the old threads or new threads are formed.

Site-Specific Installation at the 2008 Three Rivers Arts Festival. The piece changed over the course of the exhibition and prints were removed for purchase. As the prints were taken away, zeros and ones in the binary code were also deleted, allowing the translation of the code to dissolve it's meaning.

A site specific wall sculpture of woven copper and fabricated steel panels colored with heat, patinas and tinted lacquers. 2009. 180" long x 48" h x 2" deep

Learn the Basic Needs of Your Dog

It is important that you understand the basics of dog training. I am not referring to the "how to" of specific training exercises but the basic things your dog needs to be happy and healthy. If these basic needs are being met training your dog will be easier because you will have developed a bond with your dog.

Six Things Your Dog Needs

1.Leadership and guidance - Your dog needs to have clear boundaries, as well as guidance and feedback regarding his behavior. Often this is referred to as being the "Alpha Dog" or "Alpha Leader."

The term of "Alpha Dog" can be misleading. Being the leader does not mean punishing or dominating your dog. It means teaching him or coaching him regarding the behaviors you expect. If your dog sees you as the source of pleasure he will trust you and do anything to please you.

A good leader sets boundaries from the time a puppy or dog becomes a part of the household. If you are not clear about your expectations or ignore behavior that violates the boundaries that have been set your dog will become confused and not understand what is expected of him.

In order to become a good leader, you must learn how to lead. Some dogs will follow you, even if you have poor leadership skills, but many will not. You must learn how to be an effective leader. You must train yourself before you can train your dog.

2. Sense of Security - Your leadership and guidance help provide a sense of security for your dog. Your dog will know he can count on you to be consistent. Your positive guidance builds a bond with your dog and helps him feel loved.

Your dog needs to know that you will take the time to play with him, walk him and interact in other ways, even when he has grown out of his puppy stage. This helps provide the emotional security he needs.

Your dog also needs physical security. He needs to know that there will be food and water available for him as well as shelter. Establishing a routine helps him feel secure.

3. Active companionship - Dogs are social beings and have a need for companionship. They are there to greet us enthusiastically when we return home. They love to be near us instead of lying in their own bed or being alone outside.

However, just because your dog likes to be near you does not mean having him near you as you watch T.V. or read is the only companionship he needs. Your dog needs active companionship. He needs you to interact with him and play with him.

Having a dog requires you to be willing to give him the active companionship he desires. It is that type of companionship that creates a happy, healthy dog.

4. Physical Stimulation - Your dog loves to exercise! He looks at it as a reward. If your dog does not get enough exercise he will look for other ways to expend his energy. If a dog is getting adequate exercise many so-called "behavior problems" will take care of themselves.

Most dogs need more than a walk around the block. They need to be able to run, to smell the scents of nature. They love to fetch a ball or catch a frisbee, anything active is to their liking. Taking your dog on a hike is also a great way for him to exercise.

5.Mental Stimulation - Dogs need to be challenged mentally. They need to master skills and learn new things. If they are not being mentally challenged they become bored.

One of the best ways to stimulate your dog mentally is to teach him new tricks. He loves to show off what he has learned and please you.

Your dog is also stimulating his mind when he wants to sniff everything he comes across. This gives him an opportunity to process different smells, sights, and sounds. When you take your dog for a walk make sure you let him use some of the time to explore what is around him. It can be at the beginning or middle of a walk, but he needs an opportunity to process what is happening in his neighborhood.

6.Variety - Your dog needs some variation in his routine, especially highly intelligent breeds who require more stimulation. You can surprise him regularly, if possible once a day, with an extra outing or activity, a new toy, or a new trick to be learned. With dogs, variety is the spice of life.

If you will meet these basic needs of your dog he will feel loved and will bond with you in a special way. The connection between you will be strong and will provide the security your dog needs even when you are away.

These basic needs are so important that if you do not have the time to provide them you should reconsider having a dog. A dog is a great responsibility and you must be able to provide what your dog needs to be healthy and happy.

It is also important to prepare yourself to be able to teach and guide your dog appropriately. You need to prepare yourself so you will be a good companion for your dog.

Take time to study dog training guides so you will have strong leadership skills to help you coach your dog effectively. There are many available and one will be right for you and your dog.

This is the emblem for America's National Park Service (NPS), a government agency responsible for many specific types of parks. The sign is on display at Mammoth Cave National Park, in west-central Kentucky. Mammoth Cave was established in 1941 and is the 26th national park in the system.

The NPS is in charge of the following types of units: national parks, national monuments, national lakeshores, national seashores, national preserves, national reserves, national rivers, national recreational rivers, national scenic rivers, national riverways, national wild rivers, national recreation areas, national historic sites, national historic parks, national historical reserves, national parkways, national battlefields, national battlefield parks, national battlefield sites, national military parks, national memorials, and national scenic trails (it's obvious that bureaucrats are in charge of these designations - lots of unnecessarily redundant labels).

The park service is not in charge of national forests, national grasslands, national resource lands, national wildlife refuges, or national volcanic monuments.

True national parks can only be established by the legislative branch of America's federal government (i.e., the Senate + the House of Representatives = "Congress"). The first national park in America was Yellowstone in Wyoming, back in 1872.

National parks are public land - they belong to everyone. But the park service has a contradictory mandate to provide access for the benefit of the people and for certain types of recreation, plus preserving scenery, nature, historic sites, and archaeological sites. Because of this, the park service denies access to many specific areas in quite a few national parks.

Over 120 countries have national parks and there are over 1,000 national parks in the world.

Problems in national parks include overcrowding and overuse, which are consequences of global human overpopulation (the # 1 environmental problem on Earth is not climate change - it's human overpopulation; the carrying capacity of Earth may be about 1 billion only). Chronically overcrowded parks in America include Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Yellowstone, and Mammoth Cave. Private vehicles are mostly prohibited in some parks due to overcrowding (e.g., Zion and Yosemite).

Other problems associated with national parks include development at & near park boundaries, poorly thought-out fire policies, poor visibility (air pollution), and vandalism.

Unlike national parks, national monuments can be established by the executive branch of America's federal government. The first national monument in America was Wyoming's Devils Tower, which was established in 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt. Many true national parks were formerly national monuments.

Name changes and label changes have occurred with several NPS units. Some units no longer exist, like Fossil Cycad National Monument - vandals (scum) stole and/or wrecked all the fossils that were present.

Most national parks and national monuments are nature-based, but some are not.

Protips For Renting a Roll Off Dumpster in Seward, Alaska.

Having an understanding of how dumpster rentals operate, the different size options and the weight capacities can go a long way to help you get the best for your money. Whether you’re operating a contracting company and need a long term dumpster option, or you’re a do-it-yourself homeowner working on a new project, there’s going to be a dumpster that is the most beneficial choice for your needs. There are always going to be a wide range of dumpster rental companies in Seward, but if you have some background on sizes, weight capacities and possible hidden costs, then you’ll be much better equipped to negotiate with rental businesses companies.

Whenever you’re trying to get rid of waste yourself you’ll need to take a variety of factors into consideration. You’ll want to try and estimate the fuel charges, materials you’re disposing of and any permits you may require to correctly dispose of your trash. Determining the approximate weight of the materials you’ll be disposing of will help you factor in the costs associated with the removal process in Seward.

There are no standardized sizes when it comes to dumpsters, and you could find a wide range from various companies, but the most common sizes come between 10 and 40 cubic yards. Most of the time if you’re just cleaning out a garage or shed you can get away with a 20 cubic yard dumpster. A big job such as home remodeling or roof replacement in Seward will likely need a larger dumpster size such as a 40 cubic yard option. It’s typically better to have more space than less when it comes to dumpster options, since you can find yourself incurring additional charges for going over your weight capacity.

Weight capacities and material restrictions are additional factors you’ll want to consider when selecting a dumpster to rent. It’s not just about the size of your dumpster, as you could have a good amount of room left over yet still go over your weight limit. If you exceed your weight restrictions then you may end up paying more than you anticipated for a rental. Depending on the material you’re disposing of you may have to pay landfill fees as well. In addition to costs, throwing too much weight into your dumpster could also damage your property, so it’s a good idea to be mindfulof your capacity. It’s always better to overestimate your weight rather than underestimate it, so be sure to talk about your job with the dumpster rental company first.

To help determine the best size of the dumpster you will need, think about the types of objects you’re going to be putting in it. If you simply have a few large items, such as a couch or home appliance, then it may be better to choose a junk removal service rather than renting a dumpster. If you are only looking to clean out some old furniture or junk in your garage, you could likely get away with a 10 cubic yard dumpster. You’ll want to check with your rental company in Seward to see if there are objects that they prohibit before you decide to go with a dumpster option. Objects such as mattresses, oil or paint cans, grease or food waste and refrigerators will not be allowed.

Rental rates are effected by a broad variety of factors. Most dumpster service providers give you a no-cost estimate for their services. Obviously, bigger containers can contain far more volume and weight. The cost of dumpster companies transporting and dumping large containers, even if they aren’t entirely full, is going to demand more work. Due to these factors, renting a large dumpster will always be more expensive than a smaller one.

It’s usually best to choose a dumpster company within the local area of Seward. Local businesses will already know the regulations, recycling and disposal procedures associated with local laws, which can save you some effort in the long run. They’ll also have a heads up as to where the ideal places to dispose of waste materials are. Try to provide your rental company with as many details as possible, this will allow them to give you the best cost estimate.

In specific, Holy Week is the week just before Easter that extends from Palm Sunday until Holy Saturday and marks the last week of Lent. It has earned the name 'Holy', according to the Orthodox Church, due to the significant events that take place for Christianity in regard to the sufferings of Jesus Christ.

Coffea S-RNase trans-specific polymorphism.

A. The maximum a posteriori phylogram of putative Coffea S-RNase alleles is shown with midpoint rooting and branches receiving strong support are labeled (i.e.>95% posterior probability). The Psilanthus S-RNase homolog is indicated by a black box. The geographic origin of putative S-RNase alleles is indicated by the colored symbols following the labeling scheme in Figure 4 (African = red; Madagascan = blue). All putative S-RNase allelic lineages (i.e. sequences that consistently group together and exhibit minimal divergence) have been labeled on the tree (e.g. S1, S4, etc.). All individuals from the self-compatible species C. heterocalyx carry sequences from just one putative S-RNase allelic lineage (S12). The gene tree shows a clear signature of trans-specific polymorphism in putative S-RNase alleles sequenced from a phylogenetically and geographically diverse sample of Coffea species.

Part of a site-specific installation produced for Constance ARI in April, 2009. Detail of the wall outlining the common features of contemporary museum architecture and the photographic examples for each.

The explanation of the supposed "redevelopment":

"To coincide with Inflight’s change of name and scope, the existing gallery building at 100 Goulburn St will be redeveloped. Based on current trends in museum architecture, the humble ARI will be transformed into a cutting edge monument to rival institutions such as the Guggenheim(s), the New Museum, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and MONA. The redevelopment will retain the building’s existing white cubic base, but will have three additional levels on top, will include the neighbouring apartment in the same building, and convert the current carpark into a concrete-paved sculpture garden.

The art museum is no longer built in the image of a Greek temple. Instead, it strives to be unique in every way, from the toilets to the shiny coloured enamel exterior. However, the features designed to create a unique structure paradoxically tend to be common to most new museum buildings. These features include bizarre angles, curved or polished concrete, confusing layout, large entrance courtyards, water features, unlikely toilets, rust, and floating or unusual staircases. The institution will encourage site-specific artworks that respond to the architecture, with art invading the lift shafts, stairs and toilets. Importantly, the ‘visitor experience’ is enhanced through the provision of a gift shop, bar, restaurant and/or café. I have identified the most common of these features and have attempted to apply as many as possible to the new Constance ARI design, with the aim of providing Hobart with (another) ‘unique’ contemporary art museum."
