A further tour to Fourvière, Lyon, France for a specific visit of l'Antiquaille on October 20, 2022. I did also a new Kodak Tri-X film with my Zorki-4K camera and its Jupiter-8 1:2 f=50 mm normal lens.

The Zorki was loaded with the Kodak Tri-X (TX) exposed for 400 ISO using a Minolta Autometer III lightmeter fitted with a 10° viewfinder for selective measuring privileging the shadows. After exposure the film was processed at 20°C using Tetenal Ultrafin developer at dilution 1+10 for 9min.

After process the film was digitalized using a Sony A7 body and a Minolta Slide Duplicator with a Minolta Auto Bellows III with a lens Minolta Bellow Macro Rokkor 50mm f/3.5.

After several films, and the range finder adjusted, I found the Zorki-4K very pleasant to use. The camera is clearly very reliable and the film smoothly advanced and rewound. I equipped the lens with a FOCA UV-protection filter (Made in France) and the hood of my Focaflex. All views are presented either framed or full-size.

About the camera :

This camera was manufactured in 1977 by KMZ company ( Красногорский механический завод, Krasnogorskiy Mechanicheskiy Zavod) located in the Moscow region. KMZ also manufactured the ZENIT SLR's among many other productions. Zorki 4K was produced between 1972 to 1978 and the previous Zorki models were inspired by the Leica II since 1949. This model 'Made in USSR" is branded in roman characters, intentionally for exportation. Other Zorki 4K were also branded in Cyrillic as "Зоркий". Zorki 4K was sold basically either with this Jupiter-8 lens 1:2 f=50mm or the Industar lens1:3.5 f=50mm. The Jupiter-8 is a Sonnar Zeiss optical formula and fits to the Zorki body using the screwing M39 Leica mount.

Its was sold to me in August 2022 from Austria with its original ever-ready leather bag, a front lens cap and a small shade hood accessory Minolta D42KA. The shade hood and filter of my Focaflex also fit to the Jupiter lens (Leica standard 42 mm filter)

As the name implies, the sculpture is in the form of an actual corridor. It measures eight feet tall, forty feet in length, and with a width of ten feet. The facing walls of the corridor are each formed by ten carved blocks of laminated sugar pine planks for an overall measurement each of 8' x 24½" x 16".

Within the concept “One man=all men,” VATICAN CORRIDOR, A Non-Specific Autobiography was conceived as an actual and metaphorical record of the journey through the life of the artist and, by extension, a projection of the possibilities we all share and may attain. Within both of the facing walls are ten carved life-size figures symbolically conjoined by arches to form a “corridor of the self.”

Prior to acquiring the materials necessary for the actualizing of the sculpture in wood, Robert Cremean spent two months creating a detailed preparatory study of the entire work, a process he had followed on only two prior occasions, one for DONOR WITH CRUCIFIXION and the other, although more suggestive than detailed, for HOMAGE TO PAUL APOSTLE. All of the pages of the original manuscript were published by Manuscript Press and may be found on its open website therein. From the first three pages of searching to the final pages of resolution, the artist’s graphic description of the three dimensional work provides us with the opportunity to read the artist’s philosophical concepts for that specific work of art and to understand how these concepts are interpreted symbolically through the human figure. Since this is an actual and a metaphorical autobiography, the Preparatory Study literarily addresses both.

It is very rare that a writer permits us to study his original unrevised and unedited manuscript and even more rare to have an opportunity to study the preparatory drawings and writings for a three dimensional work by a sculptor. With Vatican Corridor, A Non-Specific Autobiography we are permitted to experience, from the first three pages of searching to the final pages of resolution, the artist’s graphic description of a three dimensional work. This manuscript provides us with the opportunity to read the artist’s philosophical concepts for that specific work of art and to understand how these concepts are interpreted symbolically through the human figure. Because the basic philosophy—one man equals all men—is inherent in the work, the artist’s non-specific autobiography contains and is an extension of our own. And because each of the ten arches in the Preparatory Study and in the completed sculpture spans a period of three years in the artist’s life, the tenth arch was a projection five years into the future at last updated twenty two years later in the writing in 1995 and with the publication by Manuscript Press in 1996 of The Tenth Arch, the sculptural tenth arch realized in the form of a book.

The first figure of the Outer Wall is nearly fully revealed in the round. But by the Tenth Arch, it has been transposed into a negative, much like a waste-mold, only the egg shape of the final transposition still in place. Block by block and transposition after transposition, the three-dimensional figure is displaced by a concavity as the wall that contained it grows thicker and thicker. The reverse is true in each of the corresponding figures and blocks of the Inner Wall. Each part of the human figure is symbolic of a particular sense and/or concept and with its transference the figure of the Inner Wall becomes more complete.

But why is the piece called VATICAN CORRIDOR? When the artist first walked through the almost endless corridors of the Vatican Museum, he was struck by the glory and spaciousness of the place, by the number of sculptures there, by the fact that they were neutered by a fig leaf and that only a few of the works met his definition of being a “transparency.”As a result of this experience, he chose to name the sculpture VATICAN CORRIDOR, A Non-Specific Autobiography. On the fourth page of the manuscript, based upon this experience, is provided a statement as to the philosophical intent of the sculpture:

"The enclosure of one metaphor by another—one culture by another—one time segment by another. 'Paganism' is preserved through forfeit of genitalia—neutered by a fig leaf. Miles of historical artifacts enclosed within an historical artifact. And yet there are a few presences that are not dead—not neutered. A few glimpses—Man existing without metaphor. A few Transparencies. Are these not worth the endless walk?"

Archbishop Richard Clarke and Bishop Alan Abernethy joined with other leaders in church life and community relations for CMS Ireland’s Crossing Bridges event at Parliament Buildings, Stormont, on Tuesday, 11th October.

The event included a contribution from the Rt Revd Justin Badi, Bishop of Maridi, on how the Episcopal Church in South Sudan is working for peace and reconciliation in the midst of its ongoing civil war. Almost one in four South Sudanese people are refugees while another quarter have been internally displaced and are unable to flee the country; the remainder mainly live in extreme poverty. Bishop Badi explained that the Church is responding in four ways: prayer; providing shelter; advocating on behalf of those who are weak and voiceless; and preaching and teaching the Word of God.

“Prayer might be seen as a weak thing to do,” he remarked, “but prayer is powerful. The Bible says in James that anyone in trouble should pray (James 1.13).” Churches are providing shelter for tens of thousands of people regardless of ethnicity or religion, thus fulfilling the biblical call to practice hospitality. Members of the Mothers’ Union teach respect for human life to husbands and children who are involved in the conflict. He encouraged the Church of Ireland to continue to support South Sudan – through prayer, visits, advocacy for peace, and providing resources for leadership – “so that the people there may know that they are not alone in their situation.”

Connecting

Archbishop Clarke, a patron of CMS Ireland, spoke on ‘connecting’ – one of CMS Ireland’s three themes, alongside equipping and transformation – by drawing on examples shared at the recent Anglican Primates Meeting in Canterbury.

Dr Clarke encouraged delegates to firstly connect with their own practical responsibilities. He highlighted exploitative mining practices in Ghana, deforestation in Kenya and the disappearance of small islands in the South Pacific as consequences of irresponsible consumption in the UK and Ireland.

Connecting with “the other” always involves “walking the second mile” and often without recognition or appreciation: “It’s not just doing what we have to do.” He noted how Christians facing hostility for their faith in Malaysia and Pakistan shared food and provided education and healthcare to their Muslim neighbours.

Finally, peace-making connects with the heart of the Gospel. “Very often we need to remind ourselves that the Cross can never be cheap and never can the Cross be ‘factory-made,’” he affirmed. “At the heart of all peace and reconciliation for all Christian people has to be the Cross.” It meant making “individual, difficult and risky” choices – as Jesus did – and a commitment to continuing for the long haul.

Local lessons

Bishop Abernethy spoke of how he witnessed sectarianism whilst growing up in East Belfast and how his commitment to reconciliation developed through meeting Catholic friends at Queen’s University. From his ministry in North Belfast, as Bishop of Connor, he noted that reconciliation is first and foremost relational; it involves helping people to tell their stories and being a prophetic voice into society: “We need our hearts changed in this country and I believe that the one person who can change that is Jesus.” The grace of God has “absolutely no bounds and no barriers.”

CMS Ireland’s Director, Jenny Smyth, thanked David Ford MLA, who hosted the event, and all speakers who shared their insights, including Mrs Myrtle Kerr (co-founder of the Christian Renewal Centre, Rostrevor) and Pádraig Ó Tuama (Leader of the Corrymeela Community). Mrs Smyth noted that the local Church is best placed to know the specific needs of communities and is often the only remaining institution in countries affected by conflict. Highlighting the construction of the new Freedom Bridge in Juba, South Sudan’s capital, she concluded: “We hope that the connections that we can make as God’s people will be connections that bring freedom.”

A set that transports the audience to another era - but no specific era, just that of the "generic past." But, in lieu of actual people moving about in the corridor upstairs, we have something that looks like multimedia screen projectors.

OES

Members of the Order are aged 18 and older; men must be Master Masons and women must have specific relationships with Masons. Originally, a woman would have to be the daughter, widow, wife, sister, or mother of a master Mason, but the Order now allows other relatives[2] as well as allowing Job's Daughters, Rainbow Girls, Members of the Organization of Triangles (NY only) and members of the Constellation of Junior Stars (NY only) to become members when of age.

The Order was created by Rob Morris in 1850 when he was teaching at the Eureka Masonic College in Richland, Mississippi. While confined by illness, he set down the principles of the order in his Rosary of the Eastern Star. By 1855, he had organized a "Supreme Constellation" in New York, which chartered chapters throughout the United States.

In 1866, Dr. Morris started working with Robert Macoy, and handed the Order over to him while Morris was traveling in the Holy Land. Macoy organized the current system of Chapters, and modified Dr. Morris' Rosary into a Ritual.

On December 1, 1874, Queen Esther Chapter No. 1 became the first Prince Hall Affiliatechapter of the Order of the Eastern Star when it was established in Washington, D.C. by Thornton Andrew Jackson.[3]

The "General Grand Chapter" was formed in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 6, 1876. Committees formed at that time created the Ritual of the Order of the Eastern Star in more or less its current form.[4]

The emblem of the Order is a five-pointed star with the white ray of the star pointing downwards towards the manger. In the Chapter room, the downward-pointing white ray points to the West. The character-building lessons taught in the Order are stories inspired by Biblical figures:

Adah (Jephthah's daughter, from the Book of Judges)

Ruth, the widow from the Book of Ruth

Esther, the wife from the Book of Esther

Martha, sister of Mary and Lazarus, from the Gospel of Luke and the Gospel of John

Electa (the "elect lady" from II John), the mother

Order of the Eastern Star:

General Grand Chapter logo:

The Order of the Eastern Star is a Freemasonicappendant body open to both men and women. It was established in 1850 by lawyer and educator Rob Morris, a noted Freemason. The order is based on teachings from the Bible,[1] but is open to people of all religious beliefs. It has approximately 10,000 chapters in twenty countries and approximately 500,000 members under its General Grand Chapter.

Officers

Officers representing the heroines of the order sit around the altar in the center of the chapter room.

Eastern Star meeting room:

There are 18 main officers in a full chapter:

Worthy Matron – presiding officer

Worthy Patron – a Master Mason who provides general supervision

Associate Matron – assumes the duties of the Worthy Matron in the absence of that officer

Associate Patron – assumes the duties of the Worthy Patron in the absence of that officer

Secretary – takes care of all correspondence and minutes

Treasurer – takes care of monies of the Chapter

Conductress – Leads visitors and initiations.

Associate Conductress – Prepares candidates for initiation, assists the conductress with introductions and handles the ballot box.

Chaplain – leads the Chapter in prayer

Marshal – presents the Flag and leads in all ceremonies

Organist – provides music for the meetings

Adah – Shares the lesson of Duty of Obedience to the will of God

Ruth – Shares the lesson of Honor and Justice

Esther – Shares the lesson of Loyalty to Family and Friends

Martha – Shares the lesson of Faith and Trust in God and Everlasting Life

Electa – Shares the lesson of Charity and Hospitality

Warder – Sits next to the door inside the meeting room, to make sure those that enter the chapter room are members of the Order.

Sentinel – Sits next to the door outside the chapter room, to make sure those that wish to enter are members of the Order.

Traditionally, a woman who is elected Associate Conductress will be elected to Conductress the following year, then the next year Associate Matron, and then next year as Worthy Matron. A man elected Associate Patron will usually be elected Worthy Patron the following year. Usually the woman who is elected to become Associate Matron will let it be known who she wishes to be her Associate Patron, so the next year they will both go to the East together as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron. There is no male counterpart to the Conductress and Associate Conductress. Only women are allowed to be Matrons, Conductresses, and the Star Points (Adah, Ruth, etc.) and only men can be Patrons.

Once a member has served a term as Worthy Matron or Worthy Patron, they may use the post-nominal letters, PM or PP respectively.

The General Grand Chapter headquarters, the International Temple, is located in the Dupont Circleneighborhood of Washington, D.C., in the former Perry Belmont Mansion. The mansion was built in 1909 for the purpose of entertaining the guests of Perry Belmont. This included Britain's Prince of Wales in 1919. General Grand Chapter purchased the building in 1935. The secretary of General Grand Chapter lives there while serving his or her term of office. The mansion features works of art from around the world, most of which were given as gifts from various international Eastern Star chapters.

Charities:

The Order has a charitable foundation[5] and from 1986-2001 contributed $513,147 to Alzheimer's disease research, juvenile diabetes research, and juvenile asthma research. It also provides bursaries to students of theology and religious music, as well as other scholarships that differ by jurisdiction. In 2000 over $83,000 was donated. Many jurisdictions support a Masonic and/or Eastern Star retirement center or nursing home for older members; some homes are also open to the public. The Elizabeth Bentley OES Scholarship Fund was started in 1947.[6][7]

In geology, "landslides" are referred to as mass wasting. There are many specific types of mass wasting including mudflows, debris flows, earth flows, rock falls, debris falls, rock slides, debris slides, lahars, avalanches, solifluction, slump, and creep.

This small landslide occurred on a mostly non-vegetated, moderately steep creek bank. The cut consists of weathered dark mudshales of the Lowellville Shale (Lower Pennsylvanian). This landslide is recent. I visited this site in fall 2015, and no landslide was present. This photo was taken in May 2018. Long rain events had occurred in Ohio prior to this visit - the landslide may have occurred 1 or 2 weeks before this.

The landslide may not be entirely natural. The cut is adjacent to an artificial dam and may have been involved in dam-building activity long ago.

verão 2011

Beginning October 23, 2010, MASS MoCA will present a new site-specific sculpture by Prague-based artist Federico Díaz. Created from 420,000 black spheres precisely milled and assembled by robotic machines, the 50-feet long by 20-feet high sculpture, Geometric Death Frequency-141, will fill MASS MoCA's entrance courtyard with a fragmented wave seemingly caught between movement and stasis.

Architecture critic and curator Jeff Kipnis calls Diaz's work "re-origination," comparing it to the making of a book into a film. In one sense the film represents the book, yet does so in an entirely new medium, and through this becomes something completely different. In the case of Geometric Death Frequency-141, the "book" is a digital photograph of the museum's clocktower entry courtyard as taken by the artist, which the artist then transforms into pure data, and modulates using analytical and fluid dynamic modeling techniques, finally rendering the data stream into a three-dimensional sculpture using state-of-the-art computer-aided manufacturing methodologies. The new work thus combines elements of photographic manipulation, data analysis, and computer programming, utilizing new techniques to produce a sculpture completely untouched by human hands.

Visually, Geometric Death Frequency-141 combines Diaz's interest in the built environment, deep natural forces such as cellular growth, physics and fluid dynamics to create a massive wave confined within an invisible 50 by 20-foot tank that penetrates the wall of MASS MoCA's lobby from the exterior of the museum's main entrance courtyard. As the wave hits imaginary boundaries, it splashes back and up as high as the second storey galleries of the museum.

An interior installation of one of the robotic machines used to manufacture the work will accompany Díaz's presentation at MASS MoCA. The robot will assemble additional spheres to be later added to the massive sculpture, providing viewers with the opportunity to experience the process by which Geometric Death Frequency-141 is created. The Díaz-developed process is unique-in addition to utilizing modern computer-aided manufacturing techniques, pure data and algorithms based on particle physics are the guiding forces behind the sculpture's shape, texture and size.

MASS MoCA's courtyard, where the natural elements of Natalie Jeremijenko's Tree Logic and a mature blaze maple specimen tree are presented within the industrial confines of MASS MoCA's architecture, provides an ideal ground for Díaz's site-specific creation in which a lifeless, manmade vehicle transforms data into a tangible, material creation (the sculpture).

Artist Federico Díaz comments, "Creating a unique object, which transformed the museum into a new form of algorithmic architecture was a fascinating journey full of unforgettable emotions."

Director of MASS MoCA Joseph C. Thompson comments, "Federico is, in a way, the ultimate shape-shifter, but his works are always deeply rooted in physical reality. In this instance Federico has 'deconstructed' a photographic image of our entrance courtyard. Taking the digital bits and bytes which define the location, depth, and color of the pixels from the photographic image, Federico rearranges them thru the artful application of the laws of fluid dynamics. The three-dimensional black spheres that make up this work are in some ways distant relatives of the pixels of that original, two-dimensional photograph, but instead of being transcribed into a flat image as micro dots of ink on paper, here they well up into great waves that crash against the very walls of their original subject matter. There is something alchemical or magical about it: The bricks and mullions and windows of our buildings become files of digital data, the pixels become black spheres meticulously cut, stacked and assembled, the courtyard becomes and contains sculpture - and all the while Federico remains behind the curtain, as if to say 'look ma, no hands.' If data manipulation sounds dry, this work helps show that data too can fluctuate between stasis and movement, permanence and change, fullness and utter emptiness."

The patrol race, specific to the cadet program, is tailor-made for cadets, because it puts more emphasis on teamwork, and on the interdependence between both teammates. Although they have to cover the ski loop at the same pace, they can also take advantage of each other's strengths on the shooting range and in the penalty loops. Indeed, the teammate who has the most difficulty to hit targets, can count on the other to complete the work by hitting his or her targets in crossfire. In addition, if they must ski penalty loops because of missed targets, the one with the greater physical endurance can perform loops, thus giving a break to the other teammate. Or they may share the task. Real teamwork!

ℹ️ A Turkish march in Italian, marcia alla turca is a march written by a classical composer in the Turkish style that includes particular rhythmic patterns and often features piccolos, cymbals, bass drums and triangles.

Turkish March may refer to the following specific pieces of classical music:

- Turkish March, the fourth movement from Beethoven's The Ruins of Athens

- Turkish Rondo, or Rondo alla Turca, the third movement from Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 11

- A section of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, which is written in the style of a Turkish march

The last movement, marked Alla turca, popularly known as the "Turkish Rondo" or "Turkish March", is often heard on its own and is one of Mozart's best-known piano pieces.

Mozart himself titled the rondo "Alla turca". It imitates the sound of Turkish Janissary bands, the music of which was much in vogue at that time.

This amused me, he's specific in that he wants a vivacious lady, who enjoys wearing heels, but he's really not fussed about ethinicity, which is nice.

By London area, I suspect he means Guildford. People that are from Guildford say that they're from London.

This site specific house was designed with the desire to maximise privacy and the natural sun path to the rear of the site. The barn / cluster concept of the design gives the design a rural quality whilst retaining a contemporary feel for the dwelling. Large sliding windows give good light to the main living spaces. The house creates a quiet garden area to the rear which is south facing maximising sunshine and heat gained by the windows.

A culturally specific post. Just lobster pots! Obviously not much value here. They may not be tossed or discarded but they may as well be.

A thing's worth is often determined by the bearer/owner. A lobster pot may be a means of income, a lawn ornament, or easy kindling for a beach fire. A person's value is a different story. An employer might say it is one's ability to produce. A suitor might say it is all in appearance. A clergy might say it is determined by God. Ultimately, your value is set by YOU!

I had lived trying to measure up and found I couldn't and it was frustrating. I couldn't give people what they expected. Eventually, I switched my approach. I gave what people didn't expect... I gave them ME!

More philosopher than photographer but that's ME!

Enjoy!

There's no ugly beauty more specific than a vehicle with every last desperate ounce of life squeezed out. No more miles, no effort or hope, everything stripped and saved with any use. One bright red beacon in the cold, colourless forest. I walk for an hour, and see nothing else so brightly breaking out of the monochrome. Rolled off the line in the mid-70s, seen through a whole lot of hard effort, then dumped. On the side of this logging road to a lake, grown in on the sides and crowding out of sight. I often think on times like these how I might be the last. Wouldn't be so strange making steps that no one follows, filling distance in with dotted lines, the breadcrumb tracks of memories. The ruts it took to roll in here, now sifted over with undisturbed leaves and needles – it'll sit just as silent till spring shakes us loose. Top of my lungs, bottom of my heart; tip of my tongue, I fill the quiet.

JETSONORAMA - Door to Door with COLLEEN FLAHERTY

and

KATHY SLOANE - Gardens, Garages and Garbage Cans

Physician by day and artist by night, JETSONORAMA will create a location-specific artwork in collaboration/ assistance with Random Parts' artist, Colleen Flaherty in the East Lake neighborhood of Oakland, California. His intervention will be installed on a wall facing the Random Parts gallery and will become a permanent public artwork on the corner of 13th Avenue and East 12th St. in Oakland.

In Gardens, Garages and Garbage Cans, Sloane extends the traditional notion of portraiture to make a different kind of picture in her own neighborhood. She photographs gardens in makeshift pots and containers in front of old Victorian buildings and small apartment houses as well as inside auto body garages that proliferate in an area just east of Lake Merritt; a locale known for its vibrant diversity of immigrants and bustling small businesses. Its a neighborhood that on the surface appears shabby, but Sloane with this series of photographs, captures the beauty and spirit of a community. She gives the viewer a glimpse into a world that at first glance is a gritty concrete jungle but whose inhabitants see beauty in the unexpected and banal. In the words of the artist, these are photographs of gardens that proclaim “someone lives here, works there, who loves life and values beauty.”

Katia Golitsyna - Fotografa

E’ nata nel 1964 a Mosca, dove vive e lavora. Si è diplomata al Moscow State Institute of Printing and Book Design. Dal 1992 fa parte dell’Union of Photoartists of Russia. E’ autrice delle serie e dei progetti: "Portrait of a Saxophone", "Moscow", "Cloth and Flesh", "Oriental Intermezzo", "Chinese Still Life", "Portraits of Fish", "Portrait of the Poet", "Camels", "Beer Still Life", "Moscow in a Mercedes window", "Portrait of a Harley-Davidson" Realizza le sue immagini utilizzando una tecnica personale manuale. Suoi lavori appartengono a numerose gallerie e collezioni private in Russia, Inghilterra, Belgio, Germania, Italia, Francia, Svizzera, Svezia e Stati Uniti.

Vita Bouivid - Fotografa

Suoi lavori sono presenti nelle collezioni museali ed istituzionali di Mosca (The Schusev museum of Architecture, Moscow house of photography, The Museum of photographical collections), di S. Pietroburgo (The State Russian Museum, New Academy), di Helsinki (Museum of Fine Arts), di Boston (The Forbes Collection. Navigator foundation), di Austin (Harry Ransom Humanities research Center at the University of Texas)oltre che in collezioni private.

Soprattutto grazie a lei.
