More than 600 people came out to St. Louis University High School to compete and raise money for local kids with disabilities!

Lydia tries a supine standing position for a bit of a standing break. Cool!

Now that is feeling good Ian. Total upright standing. He doesn't go there right away however. His Mom takes him up in small increments.

This is one of Anastasia's AFO's. It is used to help stablize her ankle so she can bear weight. This has helped her gain strength in her ankles.

I posted this because before I had a child who had a disability, I had no idea what the world of "disability" contained. I never knew of the things that were needed, or the equipment that people use. I guess I never thought much about it. I've seen forearm crutches, and wheelchairs, and things like that, but never the "underneath" things. So, I share that information with others out there that just may not know. Please, ask any questions you may have. I'm always happy to talk about my baby girl. :)

More than a dozen Variety kids got their first chance to test-drive adaptive bikes in advance of Variety's Bikes for Kids giveaway in December!

The team from Creative Mobility took measurements and closely monitored kids as they tried out the bikes. Using those numbers and observations, they'll prepare a custom-fitted and totally FREE bike for each kid just in time for the holidays!

I asked my son to show me what he looked like when he was angry, and this is what I got. He looks a bit like Damien from the Omen films, so I think he nailed it.

The 2008 Walk & Roll in Centennial Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

Clickin Moms has an amazing project underway. It's called the "I Am a Photographer" campaign, and they are asking the members of the CM community to join together in an effort to empower and uplift the women who do it all -- as photographers, artists, mothers, and everything in between. We are to snap a photo of ourselves with a word describing ourselves (and it can't be mom or photographer!). CM will donate $1 for every image that members submit to benefit RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization. One in six women are victims of sexual assault; help us to raise as much as we can to help stop this horrific violence.

This is my submission.

This is me with my 10-year old daughter, Anna. She has multiple special needs and over the years, I've become a strong advocate for her. Her diagnoses and labels include: PDD-NOS (autism spectrum), epilepsy, intellectual disability, hypotonia, hypothyroidism, kyphoscoliosis, high myopia, and mood disorder.

Included in the photo are my laptop with her YouTube channel playing one of my PDD-NOS informational videos (which has almost 60,000 views), her IEP and ARD binders, my SEPAC (Special Education Parent's Advisory Council) binder, her medical history binder, all of her medications (Abilify, Lexapro, DDAVP, melatonin, Levothyroxine, Diastat), many parenting books (including books about autism, special needs, and social skills), her behavior chart, her adapted writing materials, and she is wearing two medals she won at the Special Olympics.

Thanks for looking.

Dudley is ready to play ball - a couple practice swings and that ball goes flying!

This is Peter.

He is an active member of a Down's syndrome group in Norwich, where he recently worked as the cameraman on a video the group were making.

He works part-time and proving that it is never too late to try something new, he has recently picked up a guitar and is working toward his grade 1 exam.

This image is from a calendar I have been producing to raise awareness of Down's syndrome.

Variety Children's Theatre is a one-of-a-kind program that teams St. Louis' top actors and directors with kids living with disabilities.

In 2014, Variety Children's Theatre presented Disney's "The Little Mermaid." More than a dozen Variety kids appeared on stage as members of the children's ensemble, and Variety kid Nicholas George appeared in a lead role as Princess Ariel's friend Flounder!

Variety kids also helped out backstage with lighting, sound, costumes and more as production interns.
