It took hours of prep work from dozens of volunteers, unloading and assembling bikes.
But when 200+ kids streamed through the doors at the Webster University gymnasium Saturday morning and saw their new bikes waiting for them, it made all the effort worthwhile!
Bikes for Kids is always a magical extravaganza of excitement for all the kids that get to take home new bikes. This is what the magic looked like.
Thank you to all our volunteer crews, partner agencies, sponsors, St. Louis Rams cheerleaders, Rampage and our terrific hosts at Webster!

It's the most action-packed week of Variety Adventure Camp yet, as campers take several special field trips out into the St. Louis community!
On Tuesday, campers took over the St. Peters Rec Plex and rode adaptive bicycles from Creative Mobility!
Each one of our campers has a unique disability to overcome, but camp gives them the chance to try new things in a fun, supportive environment.

The Marks and Spencer's school wear section.
Great to see a move away from the stereotypical models retailers have used since time began.
In Autumn 2018 M&S introduced their adaptive clothing range - "Our specially made Easy Dressing range includes hip dysplasia clothes, feeding tube clothing and zip-up bodysuits. With thoughtfully placed poppers and super-soft materials, our collection is all about comfort. Find sizes starting from newborn, going up to 16 years."
To show just how many people will benefit from the new launch, Marks & Spencer enlisted the help of a diverse range of young models with disabilities like Down’s Syndrome, cerebral palsy and hip dysplasia.
Looking towards the sun....
Helen the Amazing Kitten loves to sit in the sunshine in the early morning and late afternoon. She often lifts her head up into the sun, as if she was actually looking towards it, which of course isn't possible since she has no eyes.
We found Helen at the end of August, 2009. She was a feral cat in our town and had managed to survive two months on her own even though she is completely blind. For some reason, this kitten lacks any eyeballs at all, but that hasn't stopped her from living life to the fullest!

Volunteer in Vietnam: Children with Special Needs program: This village is based about 6-7 miles outside of Hanoi. The village provides medical care, physical therapy, education and vocational training for 100-120 children with a variety of mental and physical conditions. There are nine family-style residences providing housing for girls and boys and their housemothers as well as special housing for severely disabled children. Other buildings house administrative offices, a medical clinic, a kitchen and dining hall, vocational studios, and educational facilities including a computer classroom. There are organic fruit and vegetable gardens, a medicinal herb garden, fishponds and farm animals.
Activities: Volunteers will have opportunities to teach English and will be mainly be engaged in helping the children with other activities that the children have the ability to carry out, such as craft, art, embroidery, computer skills, and assisting the children their movements and rehabilitation. There is also a very large organic farm at the village that provides up to 60% of the center’s produce. Volunteers will be given the opportunity to work in the garden and to assist in other physical activities if the volunteer has the capacity to do so. Local guesthouse accommodation, or on-site dorm room options.
