I took this picture on Memorial Day in Santa Cruz California, USA.

My camera was a Nikon N2000 with a f/1.4 50mm lens.

I was experimenting with some Kodachrome 64 film that I would only use again sparingly.

I do like it for it's color reproduction and detail.

Can you live without today

Questions full of sorrow

But the pain is for you to pay

You tell me nothing else but lies

Sweet sweet lullabies...."

Adelma (Cimitero acatolico di Roma)

i wanted her to look dead. This is really the first time i have creatively dealt with death since my best friend/boy friend/ soul mate/ future husband's brother committed suicide last february. This isnt really straightforward death, but it definitely crossed minds in making this photo.

I think at this point i could never joke about death again. Only treat it in a completely serious manner. Well maybe as a joke. But not in a while at least. I mean, death is something everyone has to get used to, right?

full with joy n sorrow

This chap spoke to me for the whole afternoon. Basically told me his life story - which was a very sad one. He asked me to take his picture but refused to look at the camera. He wanted me to capture his pain.
