The third and final MOC in a trilogy of builds for a story, built for round 5 of the MOCOlympics (all were built in one week), about a Samurai and his lover - the story is quite simple, and so it ended up a picture story, if you know what I mean. The builds/story had to be based on a piece of music, and A Way of Life by Hans Zimmer is the one I chose (the very last few seconds inspired this scene). A lovely piece, which I listened to for the first time for this contest. I built what I envisioned as occurring during the music. I hope you enjoy, I won the round and am now bemoaning having gotten so close to first place in a contest again without getting there. I actually really think this might be the best of the three MOCs, it's simply but also lovely and perhaps a little pathetic - though it's a bit proud of me to say that. Hope you enjoy.

“So often we try to make other people feel better by minimizing their pain, by telling them that it will get better (which it will) or that there are worse things in the world (which there are). But that's not what I actually needed.
What I actually needed was for someone to tell me that it hurt because it mattered. I have found this very useful to think about over the years, and I find that it is a lot easier and more bearable to be sad when you aren't constantly berating yourself for being sad.” -John Green

This is the first piece of the new series i've made and for the first time i didn't used snaps from IW (SL): they are real photos. And for me this is really interesting... Its a bit i am curious to see the result of the kind of treatment i usually do, applied on real pictures.
The photos of the Series are not taken by myself but they are from Laura Galley, a very good photographer that lives in Usa that uses her sons and the friends of them as models...please check it out her beautiful stream *smiles*.
So ...this is the story: we discover our respective photostream and appreciated the works of each other and she tagged me on the last september ...i obviously refused *LOL* her kind request and asked her if she could like a collaboration on the pictures. She was enthusiastic and gave me a FTP adress where to download twelve shots in raw format...i chosed one of them and worked on it and then i sent it to her for an opinion.
Laura liked it and i was glad of the result too so i decided to work on more of them and i had this Sentiment Series idea: the use of 3 really beautiful shots to represent three tormenting state of mind where the first letter is "S" : Sorrow, Silence and Solitude (and here i have to mention the kind and passionate help i had from my friend Mecca Merosi in the envelope of the idea *smiles*).
The models are Daniel, Sam and Leanne, interesting and beautiful teen-agers from England.
I found them perfect to give me the inputs of the expressions of thoughtful "torment" that u can find on the face or in the moves of everyone when something doesnt work good...and yes...i find torment very creative and interesting *grins*.

Let the show begin
It's a sorry sight
Let it all deceive
Now I'm
Pains in me that I've never found
Let the show begin
Let the clouds roll
There's a life to be found in this world
And now I see it's all but a game
That we hope to achieve
What we can
What we will
What we did suddenly
But it's all just a show
A time for us and the words we'll never know
And daylight comes and fades with the tide
And I'm here to stay
But it's all just a show
A time for us and the words we'll never know
And daylight comes and fades with the tide
I'm here to stay

Thanks very much for their wonderful creations.
Thanks you all for your kind visits, comments, favorites and invitations, much appreciated indeed!!

Her Divine Sorrow
“Sing your sorrows away”, mock the wicked sisters, Chaos and Wind.
The mute crumbles to her knees clawing at her mouth to find her voice.
Chaos slowly tears her to silent pieces as Wind laughs and whips through her hair.
Lost and unheard, her sorrow is divine.

A detail shot of a column on Deck 5 of the Royal Princess. This 'fellow' seems pretty sorrowful for a cruise ship passenger. Perhaps he should try the salsa dance lessons on the Sun Deck. ;-)

Crested Caracara (Rehab bird) - Shot at Flamingo Gardens - Cooper City, Florida
Fortunately, the bird was perched low to the ground. Even though they are in large cages, by putting my lens right up to the fence with the lens wide open, coupled with my exposure adjustments to incident light and flash compensation, I was able to capture this portrait without anyone knowing its true setting. Of course, I urge all of you to accurately point out the fact when it is or is not a wild bird. While I would die to get a wild one at this range, and I'm sure I will, I still could not pass up the chance here given how stunning this injured bird looked.
The only work done in the digital darkroom was the burning of some background highlights as well as dodging the highlights in the eyes.
5d w/70-200 2.8L USM IS w/1.4x TC; 550ex with diffuser (equiv. to -1 Ev). Thus the incident was at -1 Ev and the flash was set to +1Ev which with the diffuser, balances out. In sum, the image underexposed so as to eliminate distracting elements, but perfectly exposing the white plumage. Flash of course was essential not just for lighting the caracara but to give me the nice catchlights.
