but i do wonder if a down-Easter, sitting on a nylon and aluminum chair on a changelessly green lawn slapping mosquitoes in the evening of a Florida October—i do wonder if the stab of memory doesn’t strike him in the stomach just below the ribs where it hurts. and in the humid ever-summer i dare his picturing mind not to go back to the shout of color, to the clean rasp of frosty air, to the smell of pine wood burning and the caressing warmth of kitchens. for how can one know color in perpetual green, and what good is warmth without cold to give it sweetness?

I struggled trying to think of a picture idea this week, so in the end I went for something very different than my usual portrait types. I like those shots where people manage to just capture their dogs eyes/ears, as if their dog is peeking over the lens. This attempt didn't come out as I had wanted and perhaps shows to much nose, but it's the best I've got this week and I'm not completely unhappy with it.
Sorry for the lack of comments last week. Will try to do better next week!

I know , I know, this is way off for me but I was tempted to try my hand at lighting . The picture I did of the spider a short time ago whetted my appetite for a few different techniques ...as if I have to explain everything..:-))..I may remove it as my discretion..

I've gotten into some really bad routines since the half marathon (watching more tv, eating more sugar and just more in general, not exercising...) and I need to break out of them. Immediately. I just feel gross.
P.S. This is the first shot on which I've used an Ash texture. Yay!
P.P.S. Yes, Daniel - thanks for noticing! The migraines have gone away. Today I was migraine free. Despite eating fast food for lunch, which is something I haven't had in years. They opened a Chick-fil-A, and I was out running errands nearby so...chicken. Fried. Deliciously disgusting.
Day one hundred seventy-three/365. It's not part of the customs with which I grew up. But, last year I did it for the first time: placing ashes on the foreheads or hands of people who come to the altar rail. The idea, according to tradition, is to remember that human beings have a tendency to rebel against God, to make a train wreck of our relationships. That's part of our human condition. In response, we need to repent -- to change direction.
Baby boomers and Gen-X people are having trouble with an emphasis on sin. It tends to make more sense to them that God heals our brokenness, our illness.
I don't know if the "imposition of ashes" will outlast the older generations. But, in an area populated by many Roman Catholics, Ash Wednesday is meaningful to folks at my church.
So, I've learned a new custom. "Repent and believe the Gospel."
It's much bigger and better than expected.

Use red/blue glasses for best effect.
Anaglyph 3D is the name given to the stereoscopic 3D effect achieved by means of encoding each eye's image using filters of different (usually chromatically opposite) colors, typically red and cyan. Anaglyph 3D images contain two differently filtered colored images, one for each eye. When viewed through the "color-coded" "anaglyph glasses", each of the two images reaches one eye, revealing an integrated stereoscopic image.
Images captured with dual canon EOS-M3 Cameras and combined in software.
