Westlake is a community park inside the city limits of Hickory Creek on the north shore of Lake Lewisville.....and this ancient tree resides on the shoreline there.
Three things contributed to this shot: a tripod, a multiple exposure blend using Photomatix, and that great sky by Mother Nature herself.
I personally feel this is much better if viewed at the larger sizes....

I have a weakness for trees. Especially what I call lonely trees. Isolated trees, lone trees, solo trees. They create such a powerful image.

Massive lightning strike next to solo tree over rural gravel road in Southern Manitoba
One of my favorite solo trees on Mount Tamalpais. Thanks to the lovely Issa for standing so still beside it.
The COVID-19 files | Scene captured on an early-morning trip to the Westerheide heath north of Hilversum in the Netherlands: solo tree on the heath.
Infrared shot that started all the other solo tree shots and an eye that gravitates towards them everywhere. Late 1980s on Kodak Infrared film using a Leica R4 and 50mm f1.4
Ibises are a group of long-legged wading birds in the family Threskiornithidae, that inhabit wetlands, forests and plains. Ibises usually feed as a group, probing mud for food items, usually crustaceans. It is widespread across much of Australia. It has a predominantly white plumage with a bare, black head, long down curved bill and black legs. They are monogamous and highly territorial while nesting and feeding. Most nest in trees, often with spoonbills or herons. Due to its increasing presence in the urban environment and its habit of rummaging in garbage, the species has acquired a variety of colloquial names such as tip turkey; and bin chicken, and in recent years has become an icon of popular culture, being regarded with passion, wit, and, in equal measure, affection and disgust. in the field. Solo Tree.
I enjoyed this view but it was a longer walk to get here. There was just enough snow to brighten the fields yet not cover up the detritus left behind from the soybeans creating lines in the land.
Away from the pack, this lonely bird walks away from the rest. Is he tired the noise? Did someone put him off? Isn't he cold?

Didn't realize this silver Land Camera tends to over expose when these were shot.

A rare bit of sun during the beast of the east storm in Ireland 2018 which created this nice rays and glimmer on the snow and shadows. I'm still stuck between this one and the B&W version
This is from the east half of the Owens Valley, just a bit SE of Bishop. I'm looking east at the western side of the White Mtn range. You can't see it, but the Owens River is about a quarter mile beyond that big solo tree. Over on the right side, that "dirt road" is headed up Black Canyon.
I like the calm gentleness of this image. Whereas the Sierra mountains behind me are jagged and dramatic with contrasty couloirs and a sawtooth-like horizon contour, the Whites are soft and rounded. The diffused light on the foothills here make them look a bit like clouds to me.
This was taken in a beautiful valley near the Shenandoah River in Virginia. The lone tree and it's shape in the wide open expanse really caught my eye.
