This is a couple of weeks post lockdown, Like nocturnal animals, we would come out of our house at night to walk to avoid any other human beings. It still makes me shudder to think of those days.

F No of the gap a bit too high, LoL.
My back still hurts.
I decided that an activity where I mostly got to lie on my back would be okay, so I went with Jessi and Andrea to see Roman Holiday on Art Hill. It was a lovely little film. Also, I ate too much picnic food.
I checked through my previous experiences with back pain, and it would appear that prior experience says I'm going to be in a back place for about another week or so. Blah.

I waited until this evening to take today's photo, as I was busy packing up the Christmas decor. Unlike our usual overcast weather in January, we have had a lot of sunshine. The solar lights in our back yard are getting a good charge every day. The light they cast on the snow at night makes a nice starburst pattern!
I guess this is why people paint fences? 10 years ago, this fence was intact, but not healthy looking. Always a bit green. Nowadays, all you gotta do is miss a piece of kudzu with your hatchet, and you take out a foot section of the fence. The wood is so rotted out and rained on that it's brittle and almost hollow.
It's too late to save this fence. I'm gonna let it rot away. The neighbor's half of the fence isn't in good condition either. One day we may both lose some our privacy. But it won't be ME buying a new fence, if it's anybody, it'll be my neighbor. I will not care if they see my yard. In fact, I wonder if keeping my yard intentionally messy would accelerate the progress of them buying a new fence. But I'm getting ahead of myself. First, this existing fence has to finish rotting. Meanwhile, this entire concrete patio could landslide down the back of the hill someday, as half of the concrete patio is on my neighbor's already-condemned-once yard. So who knows what will ultimately happen with this part of the yard.
I am the best neighbor ever.
ALSO CHECK OUT THE BRICKS! Kudzu and ivy, man. Ignore them for a few years and they will literally crawl up stairs, find that tiny patch of dirt bricked up in front of the fence, infiltrate it, then grow so fast and so much as to BURST A BRICK WALL and separate almost every brick from each other. Yes, this wall was intact 10 years ago. At least I now have a source of bricks, which have come in handy on multiple occasions in the last 6 months -- much more so than having a side garden ever would have.

A common theme in the way we live is "strength in weakness": Finding a flaw and realizing that it grants you extra points in unexpected way.
For example, our foundation is sagging, so our kitchen is slanted. The one time our laundry flooded, instead of a basement full of water, it all ran out the back door due to the floor slant. A few towels later and we had no homeowners insurance claim like when the same thing happened at my parents' house.
ANYWAY...
The step in our patio is decaying, and the decay left a nice space for a solar light. This is a perilous, dark step at night, as it falls in the shadows cast by the sheds, well, and house, making it impossible to navigate without holding onto the guard rail - which is itself barely held in by the decaying concrete of our mega-patio. So while the linear/conformist/normal way of thinking about something like this would be, "Hole. Bad. Fill it up so everything is flush and normalized", ***I*** would prefer having a hole that holds a light so I don't fall, than having a perfect step that is pleasing to the eye. Strength in weakness. QED.

Lt. Gen (Retd.) Syed Perwaiz Shahid a renowned educationist was chief guest for the event.
Ms. Lillian Charles Program Manager PEP and other team members from PEP were present in the event.
During the ceremony 72 female students received solar lanterns. PEP will organize another event in Hyderabad for the distribution of remaining solar lights in November 2017.
Hope you are well , I am fine too. We are thankful for all your support through lights that you have provided to Women who are part of Adult literacy classes. As I have received a call from Mr Shahid i am sharing the following information with you.
Women Empowerment groups were started in 2013 in all the PEP schools. The ideas was to provide awareness to women regarding their rights, responsibilities, savings, and issues such as early marriage. These women were provided training on building low cost washroom and they were also provided training on how to save their families during severe floods. At present PEP has 67 groups in total. Each group has a group of 10 females.
In 2016 , on the request of women, adult literacy course is introduced to the women. Project aimed at 5 centres in 2016 but 27 centre were started in 2016. they women were provide free books and no fee was charged from them. A mobilizer from the same village taught these classes.. They course is designed for one year as it is a weekly class.
In 2017 , PEP introduced a centre where women can learn from android tablets. PEP has designed three grade applications in Sindhi on tablets which are useful for these women. They can use those applications and hear sounds and can read the sentences and stories.
Now women are able to read and write sentences. Instead of thumb print they can write their names. They developed their confidence and able to perform theater on sensitive issues. Some of the theatre performances are uploaded on PEP website.
PEP is reaching out to the marginalized communities with a hope of educating them and making them effective citizen of our country.
PEP requested you to distribute these light as a token of thanks and as a resource for them so they can use it in the night too. They are thankful for all the encouragement that you have provided to them.
Please feel free to ask further information.
Yes. There is a walkway here! Now that my dead-since-January already-totaled-once Pontiac Bonneville is taking up our main parking spot, I always park my 1999 Chrysler 300M (thanks, Mom & Dad!) at the top of this walkway, so it's getting used much more often. Most guests have probably never seen the walkway. We cleared it out for a party many years ago, but it overgrows completely in a year. Even new dirt is created -- these were *covered* in dirt. First I had to go at it with a weed wacker. For weeks we'd kick the dirt down as we walked over them. Finally, Carolyn & I got on our hands and knees and manually scooped all the dirt off of them. WE DID OUR JOB TOO WELL; the middle stone is cracked, and we removed so much dirt it started to rock. Now people are going to hurt themselves! I put a cinder block on it to hold it down, but now someone may trip on the cinder block! So we moved a solar light into the block, and I may buy a can of yellow spray paint to make the block yellow. "Hey! Don't trip on me! I'm here to KEEP you from tripping by keeping the stone from rocking when you step on it!" The very lowest step is at a 30-degree angle now, too; rain must have washed away the dirt underneath it.
On second thought, maybe guests shouldn't use this walkway :)
You can also see the various dead trees that were recently killed with my pole saw. It was getting to where you could barely walk up here because of all the 10-year growth.
Home Depot had solar lights on sale for $3 each, so we got about 30 of 'em. Little did we know that you have to buy replacement batteries (also about $3 per light) every year. I'd run actual wires out there if I wasn't lazy, cheap, and apathetic. But these are handy. You can pull them up and take them camping or to the back yard or what-not.

BACKSTORY: So our homeowners insurance (Farmers) got dropped due to having peeling paint on our window sills, trees touching our roof, and yard overgrowth (and possibly other reasons I forgot). Weak. Since when did one's level of yardwork affect insurability? So we had to clear some overgrowth. Couple days of yard work.

The quadrennial gathering is considering a wide variety of policy proposals, including several related to the environment, among them a move to divest the denomination's pension funds from companies profiting from fossil fuels.
