... without a soft-boiled egg?

***

Was wäre ein Osterfrühstück...

... ohne ein weichgekochtes Ei?

We stopped for lunch on the way to a small art opening.

We knew we were in trouble the moment we saw that pork.

Blech.

Breakfast Singapore style.

Lunch @ "SYIP Luzerne".

"Brioche, Dates "Kaya", Salted Caramel Butter, 63°C Furikake Egg"

A very intriguing dish that promises enigmatic interest.

Will it really deliver the taste of “kaya and roti”?

So, if I were to mash everything together and shove them into my mouth in one mouthful, it would re-create the iconic taste?

It actually kinda did! I can imagine caramel kaya on toast enjoyed dunked in soft boiled eggs!

Soft Boiled egg, 365 project 22-12-2007

I ate breakfast just after I understood that when facing physical tuff situation (pain, disease) one way to survive it well, is not to give in. Not to give in, in a sense that as far as possible to try and continue to function, not letting go of ones routine and connection to the world outside. It hit me after I had a conversation with my friend that told me about the deterioration of her 97 years old mother. Her mother’s doctor changed her medicine and it created a lot of complications - water in the lungs, hurt malfunction and other illnesses. What impressed me most was that she told me that her mother with all this bad condition went to work. Can you imagine???? This woman is already living in a senior home, still gets up everyday to go to work. At 97 years old she still makes her living…

It gave me courage to the rest of the day.

First Coast is a restaurant in Dalry Road, Edinburgh. Starter from the lunch menu: a rich spinach dhal with a soft-boiled egg. Picture taken 11 July 2011. Also First Coast is neither a seafood restaurant nor North African/Indian, nor fusion - just eclectic.
