These amazing creations by Rebecca Yaker were discovered this past weekend at the Minnesota State Fair
Finally getting around to making some more sock monkeys. Sent this Bluemonkey along with my parents to Sweden, for my cousin's new baby.
2 tier sock monkey cake. Everything is edible. Monkey is made out of rice crispy treats and covered in fondant than painted....I like him!
July 06 - Bruce Lee sock monkey, for Craftster Challenge #13. Yarn hair, felt eyebrows, button eyes, embroidered mouth and scratches, pants with gathered cuffs and a button closure for his tail, white socks and tiny felt shoes. Bruce Lee Monkey also has wiring all through his body for easier ass-kicking stances.
I though the sock monkeys would be an attention-getter, so they took center stage in the front of the booth. I knew people would be picking them up to look at them, so I didn't fuss too much and just had them in a large apple basket. They had to be rearranged quite often.
they go VERY well with my Sock Monkey hat, but still heart broken I wasn't able to score the slide version
Well, this is the photo I finally decided to go with, for better or for worse (as the saying goes). Silly, if not ridiculous, I agree, but I am too curious as to what poem (or limerick!) this photo may inspire.
Why did she marry this clown, anyway?
How many times have we wondered that same thing when encountering those "odd couples".
It is that answer/story/poem that I hope to find.
I chose a close up vertical angle to capture the gown and the groom's outfit, while still keeping the focus on the "face" details.
I did not want them to appear as if they were floating, (the clown's feet just kind of dangled) so I did not include the feet in the photo.
The composition/balance is slightly offset to emphasize the sweep of the veil and the skirt of the gown, with Barbie leaning ever-so-slightly on her new husband.
I chose a black background for high contrast with the white gown and to keep the Clown from getting lost in any background (blurry or not).
Lighting source was a simple floor lamp with a directional head - pointed to the ceiling to keep the shadow cast soft.

I had to put my shoes back on and otherwise re-assemble myself and my stuff after being cleared by the TSA. Sock Monkey was smart and didn't wear any shoes.
These were purchased from Etsy.com. They are greeting cards, so the white of the card gave us an instant "mat". The frames came from IKEA years ago and weren't being used.
A user shot of Mr Cornell's first shirt, introduced here. There's still some available for purchase, too!
