For Paula (rainb)
I managed to find an old (slightly blurry) photo of Frank the sock monkey I bought from a craft fair.
As you can see he's very er... stripey (the santa hat isn't his - he usually has a bare head lol!)
I'll try and take a more in focus photo when the light's better!
Also S is for sitting, Saturday, Sofa, and Super Grover (who is on my mug).
That is Ringo the Sock Monkey, on a digital loan from my dear friend Shannon who posted a photo of him this morning on Twitter and I thought that it would be cool to use him in my S photo today :) I like sock monkeys, Shannon LOVES them and every time I see one I think of her (which is often because I have a handmade one on my desk!)
Oh, why can't we break away from all this, just you and I, and lodge with my fleas in the hills? I mean... flee to my lodge in the hills.
Ever since I saw this photo by the lovely DaisyB, I just knew I had to buy this hat. So here's me and monkey, firefly watching. (I'm using artistic license and pretending the sunset bokeh are fireflies...go with it, you know you wanna ;)
(Oh and here's a little trick that I learnt from DiscoStu...put a piece of old negative that you dont want over the on-camera flash when using your speedlight...and it dumbs it down nicely. )
.... so the moral of the story is: given a list of scavenger items- don't put off the easy one to the end because you may not have a sunny day for cloud-viewing and will have to create a cloudscape. ~grin~

slider sunday-- (dithering again) more blending here
A sock monkey I picked up on the road who really likes to greet drivers as they pass by, somewhere in Mississippi or Alabama.
i have it on good authority (from the poster at WW) that on tuesday it is 46 days til christmas....... and again i ask-- what happened to thanksgiving??
My sister-in-law gave this card to my husband for his birthday. I put the M on it and cut off the back.

The photo club I belong to had a slide show challenge of taking an object and telling a story with it. I chose my 6 foot Sock Monkey. The photos are from two local public parks, the new Deer Park Library, local Target parking lot and home. The order in the above collage is not quite they way the show was organized, but I think you get the picture. I had a lot of fun doing this and oddly enough almost no one paid any attention to me at the various sites. The other presentations were serious, mine got a lot of laughs which was my intention. Also, all but one of the pictures were taken with my cell-phone.
July 7th is the day of Tanabata in Japan. The festival originated from a Chinese legend about a separated couple. The couple can only meet across the Milky Way once a year on the Tanabata.
It's availabe at my zazzle store.
just because
this was going to be one of the scavenger items but for some reason i had the hunt's ending date being this coming sunday.
oh, well, i'll finish the hunt anyway cause that's part of my thing
I liked the "real" sock monkeys I saw on flickr and transferred them into a Redwork design.
The pouch, made from a piece of cotton from my stash of white fabric (most of it vintage; you wouldn't believe how many shades of white there are...), is lined with red silk (which IKEA in Germany is selling rather cheap around Christmas this year)

For Mr. Hardy. Happy birthday dude.
The Tin-Can-phone Challenge.
I couldn't pass up the chance at this. Monkey hasn't made a new appearance in a while. And, well, this was perfect for him. So many ideas, but as I was sitting down to shoot this I saw one of my old NewScientist magazines sitting there on the table. I added it to the idea. Laughed for a while, then took a few shots. Then laughed some more.
Sometimes things just come together like that.
Psst... Then I read this when I got home, and laughed some more. Apes have midlife crises?
***UPDATE***
Check out My Favorites for more tin-can-phone pics From other Flickr members, from November 22(Thanksgiving). They're a riot!

Looking for monkey inspiration everywhere. We have a birthday next month and Jakob wants a monkey party. Now I am looking for monkey ideas. So if you see something I might use, copy or buy...
Created with fd's Flickr Toys.
My favorite time of day is "relaxing time." Wilbur got this new toy at his yearly checkup yesterday, but I think it might make for some fun photos, so I'm keeping it. :) I'll buy Wilbur a new ball or Frisbee instead.
I bought these sock monkeys the other day, for no real reason. Then lastnight during the superbowl one of the commercials has a giant sock monkey making a snow angel. I thought it was hilarious.

This is my entry to the weekly challenge of the Etsy Street Team for European Sellers - this week's theme? Insomnia...
Another sock monkey in the typical Strumpfkunst style, with felt eyes and velcro on its hands and feet.
It is called Sunday, and in case it forgets, the name is on the arms and legs. Very cute critter!
