I've finally made this hat into a hand-knitted pattern! (I started making these hats in the summer of 2009 on a knitting machine.) I need to have the pattern tested first but it will be available in my etsy shop soon:
A "unique" sock monkey I made with one brown sock and one cream sock. He has a custom ultrasuede vest and fez and a polkadot bowtie.

I know people think I may be weird for having Chicken Little in the office, and then holding him on occasions when big epic things are complete. I’m for sure people may feel the same way if they knew I am the proud parent of two sock monkeys (technically there should be three). Most people who know me, know the story as to why I own sock monkeys, which is my mom made me a new sock monkey every time I moved to a new place. I had one in England that got left behind, one when I moved to New York City, and the last one for Vancouver. I bought foxie (who you will meet) when I moved to Milwaukee to represent the type of thing I would have asked my mom to make me.
Now to add some more history to the story. My mom worked as a health care aid on the night shift for many, many years. She enjoyed sewing first, knitting second. Given she could not sew at work, she would knit when there was not much to do. She knitted blankets, sweaters, scarves you name it. My personal favourite were all the slippers she made for me (I’m down to one last pair I won’t wear). She also had a habit of checking out knitting magazines to see what things she could make. In her random looking, she saw sock monkeys and though they would be cute to make. She found a pair of socks on sale, and asked me if I wanted one to take with me right before I moved to England, all by my lonesome self. I said, yes! It was a hit with all my friends in England.
When I moved to NYC, I asked for a sock monkey for my 28th birthday. My good friend Ji Yun named him Wonsung yi (monkey in Korean). For my second one, I actually bought the sock material myself and asked her to make it for my move to Vancouver. My friend Ji Yun also named him Danchu (button). Together they are Dan Won or Won Dan, which sounds awesome to me both ways.

The OGs, August 2020.
I’ve had two moments where my hands have been shakey in the last two days. One out of anger, the second out of fear, but both with my OGs to settle my nerves on the keyboard or the mouse wheel. As a year is almost upon me it’s nice to be part of an entrouage of rotating superstars that know how to play ‘tag’ to each other’s strengths.
Let’s walk into the weekend, Vedalicious lipstick style.
In 1999, to promote the re-release of the animated 101 Dalmatians, Walt Disney's Home Video division constructed the World's Largest Fire Hydrant. Assembled at Disney Land, Anaheim, CA, the hydrant weighed 4,500 lbs. and could blast 1,500 gallons of water a minute.
They found a willing permanent venue in front of Beaumont's venerable Fire Museum of Texas, a 1920s-era fire station where vintage trucks, historic nozzles and firebells are exhibited.
The blatantly promotional monolith was dedicated in a media ceremony with much fanfare on March 9, 1999. The fire museum marching band kicked off with the movie's signature song, "Cruella De Vil," while 101 Texas firefighters danced around the hydrant, climaxing as it sprayed firefighters with water and confetti. They shielded themselves with Dalmatian-spotted umbrellas. Then the firefighter families headed off to a complimentary screening of the film.

a rare sighting of the elusive sock monkey indicates that Fall will come early and be vividly colorful...
This super cool sock monkey art doll is made from new argyle socks and is filled with polyester fiberfill. His eyes are made from vintage buttons.
He's fun to hold and look at, but he's not baby safe and would probably lose in a fight with an Uglydoll.
He measures 21 inches tall and his arms are 21 inches from end to end.
I'm uploading a couple of pictures to keep my crafty sets up to date. This is just a sock monkey I made for my Audi-mad brother.
We got a few inches of snow in southern NM overnight and my sock monkey wanted to make a snow angel.
My first quilt ever, and probably the second or third thing I ever sewed. The monkey in the center is appliqued. This quilt is now draped over the chair in Elsa's room. Unfortunately, she thinks one of the monkeys in the prints is "scary."
Another sock monkey, black and white this time. He's a lot smaller than the others, with different style ears.
