The Philadelphia Art Museum in the distance on a wonderful snowy night with the contrasting prison on he left side of the picture.
Mom bought a cultivated tree this year, and when they brought it in it was so bushy, she thought she wouldn't be able to put any ornaments on it! After resting for close to 2 days, the branches finally fell a little. It was smaller than previous years, and many of her beautiful ornaments - collected or received as gifts through the years - seemed large for the tree at first ...there were way too many as well, so many remained packed, but this small tree still had cham, as always...
This is actually in downtown Tashkent, Uzbekistan around 17 or 18 December 2002. We were headed home from Afghanistan and spent a few nights here. One of my favorite cities.
Winter snow on the last day of 2017 in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. One of America's most beautiful small towns.
Distant snowflakes in the sky at night look remarkably like stars. Needs to be viewed larger to be fully appreciated.

My work often gravitates towards the evocative atmosphere of the city at night, particularly when natural elements intersect with artificial light. In "Glimmers in the Urban Dark," I aimed to capture the stark yet beautiful contrast of streetlights and car headlights piercing through the deep shadows and accumulated snow. This scene speaks to the quiet persistence of daily life even in challenging conditions, the way light carves out pockets of visibility and guides us through the obscure. The interplay of the rough textures of snowbanks with the smooth surfaces of vehicles creates a palpable sense of the winter night, inviting contemplation on isolation and connection in the urban landscape.
