Hello my dear Friends and respected Visitors,

Many Thanks for your Attention !!!

First snow of the season.Shot moments ago.

"Snow was falling,

so much like stars

filling the dark trees

that one could easily imagine

its reason for being was nothing more

than prettiness."

A conceptual art image based on the book and movie, The Polar Express. Edited from an image I made a few years ago in Old Fort, North Carolina. Merry Christmas y'all!!!

To busy today to get out in the daylight, so headed up to the moors at night to find some snow and light trails.

Winter nightscape on Round Bald.

I was concerned that there might not be many more chances for a moonlight and snow picture this season so around 11:00 PM Saturday night I headed to the Roan Highlands. It was only in the last half mile or so near the top of the mountain that I found rime ice still on the trees since in the lower elevations it had melted or was blown away by the strong winds last week.

This was one of the most pleasant winter nights I have spent at Round Bald. The temperature was 29°F and wind speed about 15 mph.

You can see the constellation Orion setting behind Roan Mountain.

Such a pretty view leaving work one night.

Where did your dreams take you last night?

Snow is falling while I keep my promise;

You were restless in the darkness

While calling my number.

Any hurt or wound I will pacify;

Here’s our chance meeting

With traveler’s motion

No time for exhaustion.

I didn’t sleep a wink

Wondering if the train

Will arrive on time.

Meet me at the station

Before the city changes

I already bought your ticket

Now you keep your vow

Allow our dreams to take us in the night;

Snow is falling

I feel you near.

During my childhood my parents put me on the train to see my Grandparents often. In those days it was safe. I remember watching every scene as the window captured my attention for the full trip back and forth. So, yes, I love trains, railroad tracks and train stations!

Killer’s Productions “Snow Bronxtown Railway Station & Tracks” stole my heart and I’ll be picking up lots of tickets to anywhere USA from this sweet snowy delight! Details here!

I had a hard time seeing the moon and the lunar eclipse on Wednesday, as we had snow flurries and a cloudy sky - plus it was -10C, so standing around outside did not feel too good.

I finally managed to get this shot through an opening in the clouds, after the eclipse had begun.

Maybe it’s me but how thrilling it is to be where the comfort zone ends regardless of time regardless of age ... that feeling of empty Brooklyn Bridge Park & snow falling on you as you look up. Mesmerising ♥️❄️♥️ ... In Ukraine I used to live across the street from my 6th grade geography teacher. In the winter I always ran into him and we walked to school together. I asked him so many questions while looking around me that eventually I fell in my long red fur winter coat into the snow & he had to pull me out by a book bag on my back. Anyways... I DON’T THINK THERE ARE WORDS THAT CAN EXPLAIN MY FEELINGS THERE LOOKING UP AT THE FALLING SNOW & SOMETIMES NO WORDS ARE REALLY NEEDED ❄️

During NEMO's finest hour, the city is quieter than ever... so much so that when no cars pass by you can almost hear the snow dance in the air... a sense of silence and communion with nature that modern cities have forgotten to have on the busy and noisy every day life.

It's past 2 AM. when I write this, and it's been snowing all night in the city. So much that I had to go out and take a few shots...

Very proud of this one... It shows that tripod was used for once! ;-)

I am conducting a little experiment as I love both of these photos, but this one is my favorite (and my 16 year old daughter's as well) so that is HUGE. lol. I am curious to see which you prefer.

You can't help but to be awestruck by the magic of snow falling...

Looking down Selby Avenue towards the Cathedral of St. Paul, in St. Paul, Minnesota

macro of snow on window sill with city lights bokeh, looks like a setting sun, but it's not, lol.

I'm worrying about blossoms, which may be frozen...

The city of New York, as I write this at 1.38AM is absolutely covered in a thick white mantle of snow, that on top of this continues to fall non stop.

I can't imagine what we'll find tomorrow morning when looking out of the window.

Meanwhile, no matter the cold, I couldn't resist heading out to the street and snap a few shots in the neighborhood. Isn't it beautiful?
